Auckland. —2lst ultimo, on warrant for theft of a camera, the property of Enos S. Pegler, value £l4, Leonard Hamilton, age about twenty-six, height about 5 ft. 10 in., poses as a photographer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair hair, fresh complexion, clean-shaved ; dressed in a dark-blue suit, greenish-coloured cap, and tan boots. Offender obtained the camera on the time-payment system, and sold it for £l2 to Sharland and Co.

Auckland. —14th ultimo, on warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Alfred James Cannard, age thirty-five, height 6ft., labourer, native of England, fair complexion, darkbrown eyes, large brown moustache, scar on upper lip, has an impediment in his speech ; when last seen was wearing a dark-blue suit and hard black hat.

Auckland.— llth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for seven days in default of paying £1 3s. 6d. costs for medical treatment while on remand for drunkenness, George Henry Wright, age twenty-seven, height sft. 8 in., ,seaman or labourer, native of England, strong

build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, dragon, two sailors with flags, and butterfly on right arm, coat of arms, and snake, &c., on left arm.

Ponsonby. —On the 26th ultimo Mary Ann Friday, servant to the Hon. J. A. Tole, was assaulted and forced down on her back by a Man, name unknown, age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 6 in., stout build, dark clothes, hard black hat, apparently clean-shaved but may have a small moustache. When struggling the complainant gave offender a severe kick on the head or face which would leave a noticeable mark. No warrant.

Wanganui.— lsth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wanganui Prison for three days in default of paying 15s. fine and costs for refusing to quit licensed premises, John McGregor, age forty-seven, height 5 ft. 11 in., labourer and hotel porter, native of Scotland, medium build, fair complexion, grey eyes, fair hair turning grey, clean-shaved except reddish moustache turning grey ; dressed in dark-tweed suit, soft shirt, and hard black hat. Shannon. —13th January last, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for one month in default of paying £7 10s. arrears due for the maintenance of his illegitimate child, Edward Higgs, age about thirty, height 5 ft. 9 in. or 10 in., flax-mill hand, native of New Zealand, slight build, brown hair, clean-shaved except small ginger moustache, fresh complexion, a few freckles on face, pinched appearance. His parents reside at Masterton.

Wellington. —3oth ultimo, on warrant for disobeying an order of the Court to Day 7s. a week for each of his three illegitimate children, Alexander Aitcheson, age fortythree, height 6 ft. OJin., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, hazel eyes, hooked nose. (See Police Gazette, 1909, page 180.) On the above date he was in arrears £9 2s.

Blenheim.— llth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Picton Prison for forty-eight hours in default of paying 18s. fine and costs for helpless drunkenness, Denis Lennan, age thirty-seven, height 5 ft. lljin., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, light-brown hair, blue eyes ; generally wears dark-tweed sac suit and small hard black-felt bat.

Christchurch. —10th ultimo, on warrant for theft from the dressing-room of the Caledonian Hall, a ladies’ long black coat, with faint grey stripes (two buttons on back of shoulders), and a cream-silk scarf, and a white hood shawl, the property of Clara Smythe ; value £2 10s., Nellie Waghorn, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 4 in., domestic, native of New Zealand, dark-sallow complexion, stoutish build, dark hair; dressed in dark blouse trimmed with insertion, lightblue skirt, black hat with feather, band ring on one hand. Supposed wearing the stolen property. The shawl has been recovered, and traced to the possession of offender.

Christchurch. —27th July last, on warrant of commitment to Lyttelton Prison for one month for failing to comply with an order of the Court to pav 15s. a week towards the support of his wife, Francis Charles Hill, age fifty-seven, height 5 ft. 6 in., blacksmith, native of England, medium bui’d, dark complexion, black hair turning grey, dark moustache, hazel eyes, left shoulder droops when walking; usually dressed in navy-blue suit and cap. Arrears due to 6th July last, £2 ss.

Christchurch. —24th ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with an order of the Court to pay £1 a week towards the support of his wife, Elizabeth Drummond, Frederick William Drummond, age about forty-three, height about 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark comp'exion, dark-brown hair, blue eyes, darkauburn moustache, right eyebrow very much arched, marks of s'itches on back of one leg; wears s it. and cap. Offender’s brother is a motorman on the Dunedin Tramways. Photograph filed in the Inspector’s Office, Christchurch. Arrears due to 24bh ultimo, £3.

Christchurch. — 14th ultimo, on warrant for uttering a valueless cheque for £4 to the Drapery Importing Company, Christchurch, A. W. Anderson, ege about thirty, height sft, 10in., fruiterer, native of Australia, thin build, dark hair and complexion, clean-shaved, sharp features; always Well dressed. Offender left for Wellington in company with a barmaid named Doris Harris, who is well known in Wellington. He had an account with tne Bank of New Zealand, but drew a'l the money out, and issued valueless cheques amounting to £25.

Lyttelton.— -20th ultimo, on warrant for theft of £6O in cash, the property of Thomas GiUard and others, Frank Reed, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight budd, dark complexion, dark brown hair, clean-shaved, thin features, and very high forehead ; dressed in black pdot-suit and hard black hat; he had a swag and bicvcD wRh him. Offender was treasurer of the Pirates Football Club, and received various sums of money to pay into the Post-office Savings-bank. On the 20th ultimo he was called upon to pay over the money, when he left and has not been seen since.

Temuka.—7th July last, on two warrants of commitment to Timaru Prison for seven days on each in default of paying £1 6s. on each, fine and costs on two charges of assault, Michael Buckley, age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, clean-shaved, thin features, dark complexion, medium build, blue eyes, quarrelsome when in drink. Dunedin.—2nd instant, that he may be compelled to support his illegitimate child, an inmate of Caversham Industrial School, Thomas Lucas, age thirty-nine, medium height, well built, labourer, blue eyes, brown hair, rather heavy reddish-brown moustache; generally well dressed, and attends "racecourse meetings.
