Auckland. ganger, Wellsford, while under the influence of liquor in the Victoria Hotel, Auckland, a gentlemen’s silver hunting Rotherham watch, No. 158520 ; value, £5. Identifiable.

Ponsonby.— 2nd instant, from the dwelling of MARY COLLIS, about £8 19s. in gold and silver ; an 18 ct. gold brooch, cat’s eye in centre, value £3 ; a gold oblong brooch, about 1J in. long, fancy work in centre, value £1 ; a reddishbrown leather purse, well worn ; and a black-leather purse, silver-mounted, “W. M. C.” engraved on the mounting: total value, £l3.

Frasertown. Waikaremoana, the property of ALFRED VERNON BEGBY, labourer, a brownish morocco-leather pocket-book, containing a receipt for seven Congo bonds from the London and Paris exchange, a receipt from a broker in Auckland, a photograph of himself and another, value 3s. (identifiable) ; also three Bank of New Zealand £1 notes, and 17s. in silver.’ Suspicion attached to a Swagger, name unknown, age about twenty-seven, height about 5 ft. 7 in., native of Tasmania, fair hair and complexion, stubby fair beard and moustache,

blue eyes, sharp features, a shield with eagle on top on one arm, and a shield with clasped hands, Union Jack, and Stars and Stripes on the other arm. Suspect camped with complainant on the above date, and after he had left the above-described property was missing.

Taumaeunui. WILLIAM WALLEN’S shop broken into: Suspicion attached to a man named Leonard, alias Dell, alias Groves, age about thirty-five, height about sft. Bin., stout build, full face, dark hair and oomplexion, clean-shaved ; dressed in a well-worn blue sac suit, grey skull cap or cap with a peak, sailor appearance ; was hawking shoddy cloth about the district, and has a brief-bag and a small swag; was recently touring the country with McMahon’s Buck-jumping Circus as an acrobat, with Connor, and performed as Leonard Brothers. Obmondville.— Between 13th and 21st ultimo, from the bedroom of CHARLOTTE BRANDON, a gold ring, set with a large oval ruby, surrounded by about sixteen diamonds, the ruby has a small flaw in it; value, £l6. Identifiable.

Otaki.— 20th or 21st ultimo, from the premises of STANLEY ROPER, farm-manager, a collie bitch, very small, about four years old, black colour with a little white on throat, numerous grey hairs on muzzle, answers to name of Queen (is valuable as a leader), has a new collar cut short to fit, No. 60 on plate ; value, £l2. A reward of £3 will be paid for her recovery.

Petone. WILSON, barmaid, Central Hotel, a large 18 ot. gold heart-shaped brooch, with pearls forming leaves around it, a large amethyst in centre, and one hanging from the bottom, a clasp at the top covered with pearls ; value, £9. Identifiable. Suspicion attached to Fred Lavery, age twentyseven, height sft. 7in., plumber and gasfitter, native of Australia, dark complexion, brown hair, clean-shaved, four fingers missing from right hand ; generally dressed in brown suit and white-straw hat.

Chbistchuech.— 23rd March last, from HARRY CATE, a gentlemen’s silver Waltham watch, No. 10402092 ; value, £4. (See Police Gazette, 1909, page 131, where name of complainant was wrongly given as MARRIETT.)

Timaru. —29th ultimo, from the Farmers’ Co-operative Stor s, the property of FREDERICK WILLIAM CAMBRIDGE, a gentlemen’s Rudge - Whitworth biayole, No. 142968, rat-trap pedals, 22 in. frame; value, £lO. Identifiable. Suspicion attached to William Hilton, age twenty-one, height 5 ft. 7 in., store assistant, native of Ne°w Zealand, slight build, fair hair, clean-shaved, boyish appearance, walks with a quick short step, has gold-filled teeth ; dressed in blueish suit, grey cap, and tan boots. Suspect was employed at the above stores, and left on 29th ultimo, supposed riding the stolen bicycle.

Timabu.— 4th instant, from the dwelling of TREMAYNE MUNRO CARNOW, three £5 notes; a small wooden jewelcase, George the Fourth IV on it ; three cameo brooches, value £1 10s.; a small gold brooch, with gold ivy-leaf on it, value £1; a gold-mounted pear-shaped opal pendant, value £3 ; a pearl pendant, star shaped, value £2 10s.; a gold ring, turquoise cluster, value £5; a greenstone heart and cross, value £1 ; a plain gold cross and gold necklet, value £2; a gold memorium ring “ 1837,” and “ Mary Ross ” on it, value £1; a ladies’ old-fashioned ring, very thin, set with emerald and opal, value £2 ; a gold heart, value 10s. Identifiable, except money.

Palmeeston South.— Between March, 1908, and April, 1909, from a run at Dunback, the property of CHARLES BOWKER, land agent, Timaru, 141 half-bred ewes, branded “I Y ” in black on rump, bit out of back of near ear, and punch-hole in tip of near ear ; value, £95.

Cavebsham. —3oth ultimo or Ist instant, from the premises of THOMAS SIDEY, solicitor, a bay mare, black points, ten years old, 15 hands high, small white star on forehead, long tail, unbranded; value, £3O. Identifiable.

Invercargill.— 3lst March last or Ist ultimo, from the Secretary’s room, Southland Racing Club, Invercargill, a set of brown-leather trotting-hobbles ; a pair of white ridingpants, “T.
