Auckland. —24th September last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison fojv seven days in default of paying £1 Is. fine and costs W" tailing .to send his child to sohool, Francis Walker, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of Ireland, pale complexion, brown hair turning grey, blue eyes, fair moustache only ; untidy appearance. He was employed on the railway-works at Wellsford, and left ther^i^thi^gU^t^ctobe&Tast. Auckland.— 26th ultimo, on warrant for theft of a diamond ring, property of John Olsen, pawnbroker, Elliot Street, Thomas John Lewis, alias Wilson, alias Pierce, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. in., labourer, native of Ireland, sallow complexion, dark-brown hair, hazel eyes; dressed, when last seen, in light-grey check suit and grey cap. (See Police Gazette , 1904, page 112, 1906, page 61, and 1908, page 524.) Offender went to complainant’s shop, and asked to be shown a ring; he placed it on his finger, and decamped.
Newmarket. —7th instant, for assaulting Eileen Dineen, domestic, Mountain Road, Remuera, Man, name unknown, age twenty-two or twenty-three, height about 5 ft. 9 in., very fair complexion, long features, very large blue eyes, clean-shaved ; dressed in dark coat, light-grey trousers, soft white shirt, and dark skull cap. Complainant states she was sitting in Green Lane Shelter - shed, when offender approached and dealt her two severe blows on the face. No warrant.
Ponsonby. —2lst ultimo, on warrant for failing to provide for the maintenance of his illegitimate child, William Adam McLaren, age twenty, height 5 ft. lljin., sawdoctor, native of New Zealand, very thin build, very dark oornplexion, dark-brown hair, brown eyes ; dressed in darkblue suit and black hard hat. Offender was working at Kaiwhaite, up the Wanganui River, and was going under the name of William Wilson. He had previously been known as W. Dorrington. His camp was visited by Wanganui police on the 7th instant, but he had cleared out, and it is thought he will make up the Wanganui River. (See Police Gazette, 1908, page 461.)
Eden Terrace. —2Bth ultimo, for wilfully exposing his person to May Reid and Ethel Cole at the corners of East and Gladstone Streets, Man, name unknown, age twentyfive to thirty, height about 5 ft. 8 in., clean-shaved; dressed in dark suit and light-coloured cap pulled down over his eyes. Identification doubtful. No warrant.
Ngaruawahia. —22nd on warrant of commitment to Mount Eden Prison for one month in default of paying £3 16s. 6d/fine add costs for being on licensed premises during the burranay of a prohibition order, William Hagan, age about thirty-five, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of Ireland/: medium build, round-shouldered, sallow complex/pmfWjhen appearance; generally wears dark clothes. ' /
Hamilton. —23rd ultimo, on warrant for false pretences on Thomas Martin, draper, Florence Marks, age about sixteen, height 5 ft., native of New Zealand, fair hair and complexion; dressed in white blouse, short brown skirt, straw Gem hat. Her parents reside at Waihi. She also obtained a bioycle from Mr. Hammond, of Hamilton, for an hour, and sold it. Other charges pending. (See Police Gazette, 1908, page 519.)

WO. W.” and “ 7th N.Z. M.R.” tattooed on'one arm. He had a contract in partnership with complainant, and drew all the money, and appropriated the above amount due to complainant. His parents and relatives are said to reside in Nelson.
Gisborne.— 9th instant, for failing to obey the terms of his release under First Offenders’ Probation Act, Charles Montague, age thirty-one, height 5 ft. 5| in., horse-driver, native of England, stout build, fair complexion, brown hair,
light-hazel eyes, small mouth, birth-mark on left buttock, flesh lump on hip, scar on bridge of nose and on right shin, wen on each thigh. Offender was convicted of indecent assault, and ordered on sth March last at the Supreme Court, Hokitika, to pay £2O costs of prosecution. He has failed to report himself since Ist August last, and is £l6 in arrears.
Dannevirke.— 7th failing to obey the terms of his release under thej Offenders’ Probation Act, Arthur Emsy 'twenty-four, height 5 ft. 9 in., jZejaiana, medium build, pale complexion, j darn-l»o™ ! 1 hail - , Ibr'hwn eyes, clean-shaved, weight abouij 1M ie/dao: suit and tweed cap ; suffers from au affection or the heart-J He was convicted at Dannevirke of obtaining £2 by means of a valueless cheque, and sentenced to three months’ probation. His father is a farmer at Wai-iti, Nelson.

Parents reside at Milton. Offender hired the horse, saddle, and bridle, and sold them to John Cross, jun., Alfredton.

It was subseqently returned from the bank marked “ No account.”

Has a brother at hWoodvilp ; sistersl Mrs. Murray, South Street, Timaru, and Mrs. NSchols, Pleasant Point; an uncle named Beattie, farmer, near Invercargill; and cousin, Robert Beattie, hotelkeeper, Southland.
Wanganui. —2sth ultimo, on a warrant of commitment for one month in default of paying £4 ss. for showing obscene pictures, Arthur Bruff, alias Ruff, age nineteen, height 5 ft. 7 in., baker, native 'bf New Zealand, cleanshaved, sallow complexion, black hair, blue eyes, slovenly gait; dressed in black-cloth suit and hard black hat.
Palmerston North. —2nd October last, on warrant for assaulting Charles J. Thompson, labourer, Robert Johns, age forty-one, height 5 ft. labourer and shearer, native of England, strong build, fresh complexion, fair hair, light-grey eyes, anchor on right arm, scar near crown of head; dressed in dark clothes; fond of drink. Hill, plasterer, Marion Street, to an order for plasterer’s tools, value 155., and uttering same to Charles Sims, ironmonger, Wellington, C. Wilson, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 7 in., plasterer and labourer, native of .England, medium build, dark complexion and hair, dark moustache, rather sharp features, slight impediment in speech, slight Cockney accent; dressed in dark-tweed suit and hard black hat; a heavy drinker, and will probably be found about hotels. Supposed to have gone to Blenheim on 9th instant.
Wellington. —Bth instant, that he may be induced to reduce arrears due for the maintenance of his child, an inmate of the Wellington Receiving Home, Andrew McGill, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 6 in. or 7 in., sawmill and flaxmill hand, native of New Zealand, stout build, dark complexion, dark hair, clean-shaved (sometimes wears dark moustache), brown eyes; generally dressed in dark clothes and hard black hat. Relatives reside at Carterton and Petone. On the 15th June last he sent £4 from Palmerston North by registered ietter. Inquiry by the Education Department. . -J

Dunedin.— 4th instant, on warrant tar theft of a bicycle (recoveredhrolue £lO, property Robert Hills, law clerk, 10 probably wfm 5 ft. 8 in., supposed native clean-shaved, brown hair in Mue/smt, which appears too large for hin Alpine hat ; speaks with foreign/accent. He is also suspected of stealing other bicycles and disposing of them. '
Dunedin. —27th October last, on warrant of commitment to Lyttelton Prison for three months in default of paying £36 6s. arrears due for the maintenance of his children, Joseph Arthur Heazlewood, age thirty-nine, height 5 ft. 8 m., butcher, native of Tasmania, medium build, fair hair, fair complexion, fair moustache, birth-mark near left eye ; may be going under the name of Woods. (See Police Gazette , 1907, page 476, and 1908, page 74.) He left Fairfield, near Ashburton, on 17th ultimo, and may have gone to Christchurch.
Dunedin. —9th instant, that he may be compelled to provide for the maintenance of his three children, inmates of the Caversham Industrial School, George Bishop, age forty-seven, height 5 ft. in., labourer, native of Canada, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair turning grey, brown eyes, long sharp nose, right leg lame. (See Police Gazette, 1908, page 176.)
Riverton. —30th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Invercargill Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £1 10s. fine and costs for theft, Peter Godfrey Craig, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 6Jin., engine-driver, native of Dunedin, New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, blue eyes, fair hair, smart appearance; usually dressed in darktweed suit and black hard hat. (See Police Gazette, 1908, page 496.) He may be found working at a sawmill.
