Offender has been employed by Hugh Douglas, bookbinder, Wellington, until recently, when he left for Lyttelton in company with a Mrs, Knop under the names of Mr. and Mrs. Johnston. Palmerston North. —19th instant, that he may be compelled to support his wife, Paul Brie Bryant, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 11 in., engine-driver and labourer, native of New South Wales, medium build, fair complexion, dark-brown hair, blue eyes, clean-shaved, large mouth, mole on right side of chin, one tooth missing from the front of upper row ; usually dressed in dark-blue suit and hard black hat. He was under police surveillance some time back, as he was suspected of murdering a hawker in New South Wales. Inquiry by his wife, Christina Bryant, care of Mrs. Blake, Linton Street. He was last Beard of at Utiku on 27th ultimo. Christchurch. — 15th instant, on warrant for disobeying an order of Court to pay 10s, a week towards the support of his wife, William Russell Miller, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 4 in., labourer, very slight build, round shoulders, darkyComplexion, black hair, blue eyes, clean-shaved ; dressed" in dark suit and black hat. Christchurch.— 27th ultimo, on warrant for theft of £l3 10s., money of the Canterbury Central Fund Society, Albert Harris, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 10 in., metalworkers’ assistant, medium build, light-brown hair, fair moustache only, dark-brown eyes, discoloured teeth, sharp features, slow manner of speaking; generally wears navyblue suit, vest cut low, and dark-black hat. Offender was treasurer of the society, and appropriated the above amount. Other charges pending.

Ashburton. —21st August, 1907, on warrant for failing - to provide for the maintenance of his illegitimate child, John Batey, age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 11 in., engineer and barman, native of Durham, England, very slight build, thin pale face, dark-red moustache, dark hair with flat crescent piece worn in centre of forehead, long straight nose, long pointed chin, grey deep-set eyes, artificial upper teeth. He was formerly employed as barman at the Provincial Hotel, Dunedin, where complainant, Jane Ann Farrow, was also employed as housemaid. Offender has been about two years in New Zealand.

Ashburton.—January, 1907, on warrant for failing to provide for the maintenance of bis wife, Janies Graham, age forty, height 5 ft. 6in. or 7in., dyer, native of Scotland, medium build, dark hair, reddish whiskers, very heavy moustache, dark eye-brows, dark eyes, long thin nose, several teeth missing. Was employed at the Petone Woollenmills twelve months ago. Arrears due up to the 18th ultimo, £7B.
