PERSONS WANTED.
Port Albert. —l7th ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, John Baxter Holt, age twenty-eight, height 6 ft., labourer, supposed native of New Zealand, brown hair, cleanshaved, full face, medium build ; dressed in dark suit, lightcoloured soft hat, wears a gold chain and broad leather waistbelt. Francis Henry McCrae, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 7in., labourer, supposed native of New Zealand, dark hair and complexion, thin features, face freckled, medium build; dressed in dark clothes, dark hat, and light pointed boots. Offenders obtained goods from H. Shepherd,, storekeeper, to the value of £1 7s. lOd. by signing an order on the Public Works Department for pay which was not due to them, as they had only worked a few hours and disappeared.
Moebinsville. —3lst October last, on warrant for theft of a oheque for £ll6 17s. 2d., property of Gummer Bros., merchants, Morrinsville, Samuel S. Pearce, age about twenty-four, height about sft. 7 in., clerk, native of England, dark-brown hair, fair complexion, clean-shaved, pitmarks on face resembling small-pox marks, brown eyes, one upper tooth out in front; always wears glasses, and wears a grey sac suit. He was employed as accountant by complainants, and appropriated the cheque to his own use. (See Police Gazette , 1907, page 195.) Offender is said to be
identical with Samuel Pearce. (See Police Gazette , 1906, page 200.)
Woodville. — 12th ultimo, on warrant for breaking and £'tAs entering the dwelling of James Carroll, Thomas Grogan, alias O’Brien, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer, native of Ireland, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes; dressed in dungaree trousers, dirty brown coat, dirty appear- / 1 ance. (See Police Gazette, 1906, page-ii 9). Offender sold a pair of opera-glasses stolen from complainant’s dwelling at Dale’s second-hand shop, Dannevirke, on the 13th ultimo. Ls 6 William Cameron, alias Howard, and Edward Coyle hawe been committed for trial for the offence. (See Police jr-/ 1908, page 139, and “ Apprehensions,” this issue of Gazette.)
Taihape. 11s. 4d., money of Christian Osterman, labourer, Robert Henderson, age about thirty-three, height about 5 ft. 6 in., bootmaker, native of New Zealand, fair moustache or cleanshaved, profusely tattooed on chest, arms, and leg, butterfly on one wrist; dressed in dark-tweed coat and vest, lightgrey trousers, hard black hat, and button-up boots, wears a brass curb watch-chain, no watch. His father is a bootmaker at Palmerston North. Offender received a cheque for the above amount from complainant to cash for him. He cashed the cheque, and is supposed to have gone to the Auckland District. (See Police Gazette , 1907, page 143.)
Wanganui. —loth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wanganui Gaol for twerjty-foqr hours in default of paying 10s. fine and costs for drunkenness, Henry Wallace, age fifty-three, height sft;/6in., labourer, native of Tasmania, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair, dark-blue eyes, sandy beard and moustache, may be clean-shaved. Wellington. Octobei.Jast, on warrant for failing to provide for the maintenance of his illegitimate child, William Havelock Green, age thirty-seven, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer and carpenter, native of Australia, fair complexion* fair hair, blue eyes, \ medium build, fair moustache, parts his hair in the centre. Complainant, Agnes Wright Learmont, Wellington.
Wellington.— 4th instant, that he may be compelled to provide for the maintenance of bis &ve children, inmates of the Wellington Home, Henry Qammond, age thirty-nine, height 5 ft. 4£im, labourer, native of Ireland , dank complexion and hair, hazel large nose. (See * Police Gazette, 1903, page 103.)
Addington. —l2th ultimo, for escaping from the Samaritan Home, an institution for the detention of habitual drunkards, William Vincent, age twenty-five, height sft. 3 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, stout build, fresh complexion, fair hair, brown eyes; dressed in darkblue coat with fine white stripes, dark vest and trousers, light soft-felt hat, and white shirt. Complainant, Rose McGee, Mosgiel.
