Offender, accompanied by a man about twenty-seven years of age, 6 ft. high, clean-shaved, upper teeth missing in front, - well dressed in brownish-green suit, carrying a small brown bag, called at Finlayson’s shop and purchased a pair of boots at £1 3s. 6d., and obtained two blank cheques on the Bank of New South Wales and filled one up for £2 in favour of D. Finlayson and Son, signed “ Chas. Chatie,” and received the balance. The other cheque was issued at Woodville on the 17th ultimo, and signed “ James Wnittaker.” The offender was employed for about a week at the Oc idental Hotel, as porter, and then went by the name of John Walker. Waipawa. —24feh ultimo, that a summons may be served on him for refusing to quit licensed premises, Sidney Peters, age twenty-three, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, stout build, fair complexion, auburn hair becoming thin ; dressed in dark-grey tweed suit, felt or straw hat; fond of drink.

Wellington. —27th January last, dt jr warrant for disobeying an order of the Court to pay a week towards the maintenance of his wife,/J3rnes t Carl Max Mielsch, age thirty-six, height sfi. 7in., labourer, native of Germany, stout build, fair eyes, fair moustache, scar on throat, full name tattooed on left forearm; dressed in brown-caeck cap. On the above date he was in arrears £1 10s.

Denniston. —20th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Westport Gaol for thirty days in default of paying £4 ss. 9d. fine and costs for obscene language, Alfred Jonson, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 7 in., seaman, native of Sweden, strong build, fair hair and complexion, speaks with a foreign accent; usually wears blue suit and cap ; fond of drink.

Christchurch.— 24th ultimo, that he may compelled to provide for the maintenance of his child, an inmate of the Receiving Home, Christchurch, Frank Malarky, age forty-three, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer, native of Ireland, stout build, dark hair, bald on top of head, full dark beard, large blue eyes, fair complf xion, upper front teeth prominent, slightly pigeon-toed ; generally dresses neatly. Was last heard of about three months ago at Waipawa.
