PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland,—l4th ultimo, on warrant for forging and uttering and theft, R. Barclay, age about twenty-three, height about 6 ft., labourer, supposed native of England, dark complexion, clean-shaved, thin build, sleepy appearance ; dressed in dark trousers, striped shirt, and dark cap. Offender stole oomplainant’s savings - bank book, and obtained £2 from the Auckland Savings-bank by forging complainant’s name.

Auckland.—loth August last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Gaol for one month in default of paying £2 13s. fine and costs for assault, Leslie Phillis, age twenty-seven, height sft. 9in., labourer, native of New Zealand, stout build, fair complexion, fair hair, small fair moustache, blue eyes, round face. Is supposed to have gone to the King-country in company with a man named Robert Herron, platelayer. Offender is also wanted that a distress warrant for £1 may be executed for a breach of the by-laws.

Auckland. —19th ultimo, on warrants of commitment to Auckland Gaol for twenty-four hours in default of paying £5 4s. 6d. fines and costs for drunkenness, assault, and damage to uniform and cab, John Jones, alias John Stronack, age twenty-eight, height 6 ft., driver, native of England, medium build, fair complexion, dark hair, blue eyes, part of left first finger missing, flag and ivy-leaf tattooed on right arm. He was in the employ of Mr. Cooper, and left him on the 20th August last for Kiokio.

Hamilton.—l6th ultimo, on warrant for forging and uttering a cheque for £8 7s. to Robert Gilmour, draper, in payment for clothing value £1 Bs., John Rickards, alias H. L. Boyd, alias Hamilton, age about thirty-four, height about 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, supposed native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion and moustache, blue eyes, birth-mark on left side of upper lip, dressed in dark suit, dark overcoat, fancy vest, button boots, hard black hat. Raurimu.—2nd ultimo, on warrant for obtaining board to the amount of 13s. from Michael Burke, boardinghousekeeper, by falsely representing that he was advance agent for Maynard’s Biograph Company, A. Bain, age about twenty, height about 5 ft., native of England, slim build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, boyish appearance ; dressed in dark-tweed suit and cap. Supposed theatrical.

Raurimu.— 2oth August last, on warrant of commitment to Mount Eden Gaol for three months for vagrancy, and one month in default of paying £2 17s. fine and costs for trespass on rail way-works, Alfred Nicholls, age thirty-two, height 6 ft. lin., bushman, native of Tasmania, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, dark-brown moustache ; usually dresses well in dark clothes and black hard hat or old brown Dr. Jim hat; reputed pugilist, sly-grog seller, and two-up player.

Wairoa. —20th ultimo, on warrant for theft of a dog (recovered), value £B, property of Frederick McAneney, drover, Yankee Harry, age about fifty, height about 5 ft. 9 in. or 10in., labourer, native of America, medium build, fair hair, moustache, and goatee ; dressed in light-brown tweed trousers and darker coat and vest; was carrying a swag ; fond of drink. Offender sold the dog, and left by boat for Napier on the 20th ultimo.

Reeeton. —16th August last, on warrant of commitment to Hokitika Gaol for seven days in default of paying £1 3s. fine and costs for a breach of the Licensing Act, Daniel Colton, age about twenty-three, height 5 ft. 9£ in., miner, supposed Australian, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair, clean-shaved ; generally wears dark clothes ; is known amongst miners by the name of “ Friday.”

Christchurch. —17th ultimo, on warrant for disobeying an order of Court to pay £1 a week for the maintenance of his wife, William Frederick Noft, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 6in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, dark-brown hair, brown eyes, brown moustache, but may be clean-shaved, ridge on nose, lump with hole in it in centre of left hand. Was last seen at Riccarton on 23rd ultimo. On the 17th ultimo he was in arrears £2,

Christchurch. —25th July last, on warrant for obtaining £3 from Alfred Burns by means of a valueless oheque, Eugene McGillicuddy, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 11 in., shepherd and labourer, native of New Zealand, loose ungainly figure, clean-shaved, upper lip either slightly deformed or injured. He is a native of Geraldine, and will probably be found on a sheep-station.

Christchurch. —21st ultimo, that proceedings may be taken against him for the maintenance of his children, Henry Hyde Parker, age forty-nine, height 5 ft. 6 in., saddler, native of England, stout build, fair complexion, dark-brown hair, beard, whiskers, and moustache turning grey ; generally wears a grey l tweed suit. Was last heard of at Cromwell in May, 1901, travelling with a horse and van around the stations repairing harness. Inquiry at the instance of the Education Department. Dunedin. —12th June last, on warrant for false pretences on Messrs. Paterson and Barr, ironmongers, William James Imrie, age fifty-two, height 5 ft. 7 in., blacksmiih, native of Tasmania, stout build, fresh complexion, dark hair turning grey ; wife and family reside at Petone. Offender obtained credit on above date to the amount of £4 7s. 3d. from complainant by false pretences. Arrest important. (See Police Gazette, 1907, page 346.)

Invercargill. —2lst ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Invercargill Gaol for three months for disobeying an order of Court for the maintenance of his children, George Manson, age fifty-seven, height 5 ft. Bin., labourer, native of New Zealand, fresh complexion, brown hair turning grey, brown eyes, scar on left side of face and on third finger of left hand. The sum of £l4 10s. was due on the 15th November, 1906.
