Auckland.— -26th January last, on warrant of commitment to Mount Eden Gaol for one month in default of paying £5 3s. fine and costs for obscene language, John Hanslow, age twenty-one, height 5 ft. 44 in., labourer, native of New South Wales, medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, woman and horse’s head tattooed on right arm, bird and bunch of grapes on left arm. Offender has paid £1 10s. off the amount, leaving a balance due of £3 13s.

Auckland. —2nd instant, on warrant for deserting his wife at Auckland, Thomas Neville, age thirty-three, height 5 ft. 11 in., railway labourer, native of New Zealand, thin build, fair complexion and hair, “T.N.” tattooed on right forearm, one or two of his fingers have rings tattooed on them; was wearing blue-serge coat and vest, dark-tweed trousers, lace-up boots, light-brown Dr. Jim hat. Supposed to have gone to New Plymouth.

Whang are i.—3oth Marth last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Gaol for one month for sly-grog selling, James Mason, alias Slow Tom, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 6-f in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, clean-shaved except small brown moustache, rather round - shouldered, quiet sneaking manner, heavy cigarette smoker ; was wearing a dirty grey-tweed sac suit and cap, dirty slovenly appearance ; does not drink. He is also wanted that a distress warrant may be executed on him, in default of paying £lO 7s. fine and costs, for procuring liquor for a prohibited person.

Gisborne. — 17th instant, that a copy of minute of order may be served on him for the maintenance of his wife, George Woods, age forty, height 6 ft., labourer, fair complexion, grey moustache only, very stout build, about 16 st., broad shoulders, slovenly walk ; generally wears dark-grey suit and hard hat; fond of drink.

Ormondville. —22nd ultimo, on warrant for theft of a bicycle, value £l7 (recovered), property of Skeates and Bockaert, eycle-agents, Dannevirke, Bertie Whyman, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, dark complexion, dark hair, wears a fringe, dark moustache only, medium build, smart appearance; was wearing dark suit and black hard hat. He obtained the bicycle on the hire system, and sold it for £lO.

Palmerston North.— l2th instant, on warrant for indecently assaulting Isabella Lunnam, a child seven years of age, at Ashhurst, Edward Johns, age about thirty-five, height about 5 ft. 8 in. or 9 in., labourer, supposed native of England, dark hair, fair moustache only, florid complexion, medium build, active appearance, very talkative ; dressed in dark coat and trousers, dark-coloured double-breasted vest with white stripes, and brown soft-felt bat; “ T.E.J.” tatooed on one forearm, and tattoo-marks on other arm. He was recently employed on a road contract about fourteen miles from Ashhurst, and, as he spoke of the West Coast, may be known in the Greymouth district.

Wellington. —l6th instant, on warrant for disobeying an order of Court to pay £1 a week towards the support of his wife and child, Harold Sidney Curtiss, age twenty, height 5 ft. 8f in., carpenter, native of New Zealand, medium build, active appearance, fair complexion, blue eyes, wound on side of left hand ; was wearing black clothes, hard hat, and black lace-up boots. s Blenheim.— lsth instant, on warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Ostral Gordon Foot, age about twenty-four, height about 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, Australian, stoutish build, fair complexion, small fair moustache, fair hair, full face ; has a brother in Riddiford Street, Wellington. i- Westport.— l6th instant, that he may be compelled to provide for the support of his wife and children, Joel Stanislaus France, age thirty, height 5 ft. 8 in. or 9 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, light-brown curly hair, sandy moustache only, blue eyes, straight nose, scar on chin, front teeth broken; was wearing a black-cloth sac coat, dark-tweed trousers, blackcanvas shoes, soft cream-coloured shirt, and hard black hat.

Christchurch. —17th instant, on warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Yernon Provost August Watson, age twenty-nine, height 5 ft. 8 in., bookmaker, native of England, slight build, fair complexion, fair hair, light-blue eyes, cleanshaved, sharp features ; generally wears light suit and grey cap;.stoops when walking. Complainant, Nellie Woodham.

Christchurch. —lßth instant, that he may be compelled to provide for the maintenance of his illegitimate child in St. Mary’s Industrial School, Rowland Edward Cowper, age about thirty, height 5 ft. 9 in. or 10 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fairish complexion, dark- brown hair, small dark-brown moustache only. Was last seen in Christchurch about November, 1906.

Invercargill.— About July, 1905, on warrant for failing to provide for the maintenance of his illegitimate child, Henry Cook McKenney, age about twenty - five, height about 5 ft. 5 in., painter, native of Victoria, long thin features, very long red nose, very fair complexion, hair and moustache of a yellowish colour, often shaves moustache off, blue eyes, usually smiling. The previous warrant issued for failing to provide for the maintenance of his unborn illegitimate has been cancelled. (See Police Gazette, 1905, page 278.)
