PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland. —15th February last, on four warrants of commitment to Timaru Gaol for thirty days on each, in default of paying £l2 6s. arrears due for the maintenance of his wife and three children, John Thomas Hendry, age thirty-six, height 5 ft. 10 in. or 11 in., commission agent, native of Scotland, well built, brown hair, blue eyes, fair moustache; fond of drink. (See Police Gazette, 1905, page 185, and 1906, page 178.)

Auckland. —loth January last, on warrant for breaking and entering the dwelling of Frederick Lanck and stealing a black suit, two silk handkerchiefs, two grey - flannel shirts, two singlets, a pair of trousers, vest, and handkerchiefs, value £6, Johannes Renschwitz, age forty-one, height 6 ft., seaman, native of Germany, thin build, fair hair and moustache, now clean-shaved, very large eyes; dressed in black square-cut coat or grey coat and dark trousers, Dr. Jim hat. Supposed wearing stolen coat. The trousers, vest, and two silk handkerchiefs were sold in January last by offender to a second-hand dealer for 10s. (See Police Gazette, 1907, page 45.)

Auckland. —l9th ultimo, on warrant for theft of a silver watch and pendant for the Waitemata Boating Club shed, property of William Charles Searle (recovered), value £5 10s., William Smith, alias Bill Cameron (names supposed fictitious), age about eighteen, height about 5 ft. 3 in., stable hand, dark complexion, long thin features; wearing a dark suit with a white stripe running through it, dark-grey cap, lace-up boots, smart respectable appearance. Is said to have been employed by Gooseman, horse - trainer. Other charges pending.

Eden Terrace. —22nd ultimo, on warrant for endeavouring to impose by fraudulent representation on Daniel Arkell, brewer, with a view to obtain money, George Jones, alias Goddard, alias Williams, alias Charles Miller, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 8 in., bootmaker, native of New Zealand, dark complexion, dark-brown hair, brown eyes ; dressed in brownish-grey suit, hard black hat, soft blue-and-white cotton shirt, new glace-kid boots with patent-leather tees. Former warrant cancelled. (See Police Gazette, 1907, page 127.)

Gisborne.— Onor about 20th November, 1904, on warrant for theft of a horse, value £lO (recovered), property of Oliver Evans, Mangatu, Alfred Huxley, age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 6] in., saddler, native of Queensland, fresh complexion, dark hair, hazel eyes, scar on forearm and on forehead. Offender sold the horse to Oliver Goldsmith in July, 1905, for £4 10s. (S go Police Gazette, 1906, page 265.)

Eketahuna. —2sth ultimo, on warrant for theft of a gentlemen’s nearly new Kia Ora bicycle, 23 in. frame, whitecelluloid grips, push-button bell on handle-bar, nickel rims, “ Built by E. C. Sparkeman ” on name-plate, value £ls (identifiable), W. Jagerhun, age about twenty-six, height about 5 ft. 6 in., native of Denmark, engineer and farm labourer, speaks with a foreign accent, stout build, fair complexion, dark-brown hair, no hair on face, active appearance ; dressed in dark-tweed coat, vest, and knickers, Panama hat, and soft check shirt with turned-down collar. He obtained the bicycle on hire from Ernest C. Sparkeman, but failed to return it.

Pahiatua. —23rd ultimo, on warrant for false pretences on Clark and Manifold, drapers, F. White (name probabyl fictitious), age about forty, height about 5 ft. 8 in., cook and labourer, stout build, dark hair and complexion, dark moustache, about a week’s growth of beard ; supposed dressed in blue sac suit, soft black-felt hat, tennis-shirt, black tie, and was carrying a shabby swag. He gave complainants a valueless cheque for £7 Is. on'the Bank of New Zealand, Eketahuna, and said he had been working at Opaki as cook and labourer, and purchased a plaid shawl rug, dark-green and white colour, and received £5 11s. change.

Foxton. —l3th August, 1906, on warrant of commitment to Palmerston North Gaol for forty-eight hours in default of paying 15s. fine and costs for a breach of the borough by-laws, James Haack, age twenty, height 5 ft. 6 in., fisherman and labourer, native of New Zealand, stout build, fair complexion.

Reefton. — 26th ultimo, on warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Archibald Raves, age about twenty - eight, height about 5 ft. 10 in., medium build, stooped shoulders, pale complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, left hand recently injured. Complainant, Mary Crowley.

Christchurch.— 26th February last, on warrant for theft of a three-quarter overcoat, value £3 10s. (recovered), property of Peter Morrison, carpenter, JEdwardjj Myers (name probably fictitious), age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 1 in., labourer, thick brown moustache, brown hair ; dressed in blue-vicuna suit, hard black hat, soft shirt, and turned-down collar. The coat was stolen from the passage of Smart’s boardinghouse, St. Asaph Street, and sold to a second-hand dealer by offender, who is not identical with discharged prisoner, Edward Myer Myers. Oxford.— 22nd ultimo, on warrant for indecently assaulting Esther Whitford, at West Eyreton, Thomas Kennedy, age about thirty-one, height 5 ft. 7 in., ploughman and sailor, supposed Irish-colonial, medium build, cleanshaved except reddish moustache, supposed reddish hair; fond of drink. Was recently a witness in an assault and robbery case at the Supreme Court, Christchurch. (See Police Gazette, 1907, page 128.)

Dunedin. —3oth ultimo, that steps may be taken to compel him to pay arrears due for the maintenance of his illegitimate son, James Young, in the industrial school, James Hunter, age about forty-one, height 5 ft. 9| in., bootmaker and labourer, medium build, fair complexion and hair, fair moustache only; fond of drink. In 1905 was going under the name of James Roberts. (See Police Gazette, 1904, pages 104, 188, and 224, and 1905, page 116.)

Dunedin. —26th February last, on warrant of commitment to Dunedin Gaol for one month in default of paying £3 3s. fine and costs for disobeying an order of Court for the maintenance of his children in the industrial school, Peter Olsen, age about forty-seven, height 5 ft. 7 in. or 8 in., seaman, supposed native of Norway, thick-set build, fair complexion, fair hair, beard, and moustache.
