INQUIRIES, ETC., FROM OUTSIDE NEW ZEALAND.
Sydney.—lnquiry requested for Joseph Dennison, age about fifty-five, miner, native of Yorkshire. Was last heard of in Sydney about nine years ago, and was previously in Tasmania and Queensland, and may have come to New Zealand. Inquiry by his married daughter, Adelaide Harris, Walcha, New South Wales. (07/523.)
Sydney.—A warrant has been issued by the Central Police Bench for the arrest of Christopher Le Havens Hunter, charged with wife-desertion. He is twenty-one years of age, 5 ft. 7 in. or 8 in. high, medium build, dark complexion, small dark moustache only; dressed in dark clothes, brown Dr. Jim hat, and tan boots; a labourer. Supposed to have gone to New Zealand. (See New South Wales Police Gazette, 1907, page 83.)
Newtown.—A warrant lias been issued by the Newtown Bench for the arrest of Montague Arthur Bowman, charged with wife-desertion. He is thirty years of age, 6 ft. 1 in. high, stout build, about 16 st. weight, fresh complexion, fair hair, pale-blue eyes, good teeth, fair moustache, but sometimes clean-shaved, tattooed figure of woman with Gainsborough hat on right arm, bust of woman on left arm, a coffee-stall keeper. Left Sydney on the 7th ultimo as cook on board the s.s. “ Sierra,” which vessel he is believed to have left at Auckland, New Zealand. Identical with prisoner tried, Montague Bowman (vide Police Gazette, 1895, page 311Jand photograph-book, 33, page 167). Complainant, Alice Bowman, 73 Wells Street, Newtown. Redfern.—A warrant has been issued by the Redfern Bench for the arrest of John Haynes, charged with wifedesertion. He is about forty-eight years of age, 5 ft. 9 in. or 10 in. high, strong build, fair hair and complexion, fresh face, very heavy moustache, inclined to ginger, very bushy eyebrows, deep scar between eyebrows, broad nose, a labourer. Said to be working in a tannery in Wellington, New Zealand. Complainant, Maria Haynes, 3 Bayview Terrace, Lower Botany. (See New South Wales Police Gazette, 1907, page 73.)
Balmain, Sydney.—A warrant has been issued by the Balmain Bench for the arrest of George Pearce, charged with disobeying a magisterial order for the support of his wife. He is forty-one years of age, about 5 ft. 10 in. high, medium build, fair hair and complexion, fair moustache only,
nose has been broken; generally dressed in brown coat, dark trousers, and brown Dr. Jim hat; a fireman and wharf labourer. (See New South Wales Police Gazette, 1906, page 274.) Inquiry by his wife, Alice Pearce, Melbourne, Victoria. (07/525.)
