Auckland. —21st ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Mount Eden Gaol for twenty-four hours in default of paying 10s. 6d. fine and costs for drunkenness, Gustave Geyse, age forty-seven, height 5 ft. 5J in., gum-digger, native of Germany, medium build, fair complexion, fair hair, grey eyes, scar over left eye.

Auckland. —25th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Mount Eedn Gaol for twenty-four hours in default of paying 10s. 6d. fine and costs for drunkenness, Michael Kehoe, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 4 in., fireman, native of Ireland, medium build, dark complexion, black hair, brown eyes, “ Unity ” and Union Jack tattooed on left arm.

Auckland.— l2th ultimo, on two warrants of commitment to Mount Eden Gaol for fourteen days in default of paying £2 Bs. 6d. fine and costs for drunkenness and breach of prohibition order, Francis Messenger, age thirtyseven, height 5 ft. 4 in., seaman, native of England, medium build, dark complexion, dark hair, blue eyes ; an ex-Navy man ; generally wears old working-clothes and cap.

Auckland. —29th December last, that a summons may be served on him for trespassing on the Ellerslie Racecourse on above date, Frederick Courtney, age twenty-seven,

height 5 ft. 8f in., labourer, native of Qamaru, fair, freckled face, red hair, brown eyes, large nose ; dressed in blue suit and Panama hat. (See Police Gazette, 1905, page 144.)

Dargaville. —4th July, 1906, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison in default of paving £2 13s. fine and costs for a breach of the Shops and Offices Act, D. J. Miller, age about forty, height about 5 ft. 6 in., Assyrian or Jew, stout build, swarthy complexion. Supposed gone to Sydney.

Feilding.— 2nd ultimo, on warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Arthur Read, age twenty-two, height about 5 ft. 9 in., tailor, native of New Zealand, dark hair and complexion, clean-shaved, cross-eyed; dressed in dark suit and Panama or black hard hat, button boots, wears silver watch-chain ; generally smokes cigarettes. Parents reside at Opunake. Offender is a cornet-player, and may be found in some band. He was recently seen in Dunedin. (See Police Gazette, 1907, page 35.)

Feilding. —9th instant, on warrant for theft of a Raleigh bicycle, No. 70429 (recovered), value £lO, property of John Andrew Garvan, surfaceman, Bill Kelly (name probably fictitious), age eighteen, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of New Zealand (parents said to reside at Ngahauranga), dark complexion, fair hair, slight build, sly look, peculiar shaped head; dressed in dark-tweed cap and jacket, dungaree trousers, sharp-toed boots. One hand bandaged up, recently injured. Is also suspected of stealing some greenstone, a shirt, a pair of horse-shoe-pattern gold sleeve-links, at Aorangi.

Mangaweka.— 3oth September last, on warrantMor falsifying the cash-book of the Mangaweka Sash and Door Company, with intent to defraud, Robert John Foster, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 8 in., clerk, native of New Zealand, slim, build, fair complexion, clean-shaved; dressed in dark suit and hard-felt hat. Slight stoop when walking. He was clerk to the above company, and was last heard of in Christchurch on the 12th instant.

Carterton. —29th ultimo, on warrant for theft of a bicycle (recovered), value £2O, property of Arthur Judd,

cycle agent, William Bignell, age twenty-one, height 5 ft. 8 in., cycle mechanic, native of England, medium build, fair complexion, darlc-brown hair parted in centre, blue eyes, very round shoulders, a good bicycle-rider, usually wears dark-grey tweed suit, trousers very tight, carried medal on watch-chain won in Masterton road-race. Offender was in complainant’s employ, and obtained the loan of the bicycle, which he sold for £lO.

Wellington. —26th ultimo, on warrant for forgery, W. H. Cyril Glover, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 6 in., clerk, native of New Zealand, slim build, clean-shaved, dark hair and complexion, good address; usually wears blue suit and straw hat. His parents are said to reside in Invercargill. Offender was for a short time in the employ of Messrs. Searle, Joy, and Co., Victoria Street, and forged the name of the firm to a document by which he obtained board and lodgings from one Caroline Smith, boardinghouse-keeper, Molesworth Street.

Wellington. —l3th instant, that a distress warrant may be executed in default of paying arrears due for the maintenance of his children in the industrial school, James Clare, age thirty-one, height 5 ft. 8J in., labourer, native of Ireland, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, blue eyes. As nothing has been heard of him since 1904 he may be found working in the country under an assumed name. (See Police Gazette, 1904, page 132.)

Wellington. —3rd instant, on warrant for sly-grog selling, David, alias Donald Stewart, age forty-two, height 5 ft. 6J in., labourer, native of Scotland, sallow complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, stout build, brown moustache only; dressed in grey-tweed sac suit and hard black hat. (See Police Gazette, 1906, pages 226 and 363.) Offender is well known in Masterton and Martinborough.

Wellington. —Bth instant, on warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Alfred Ingram, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 3 in. or 4 in., saddler, native of New Zealand, slight build, lightbrown hair, clean-shaved, blue eyes, yellowish complexion, sharp features, mole under left eye ; dressed in dark suit and hard black hat. His parents reside at Bull’s. Complainant, Clara Murray, Wellington.

Christchurch. — 14th instant, on warrant for obtaining £1 10s. from Margaret Maffey by false pretences, Waters (name supposed fictitious), age about twenty-nine, height 5 ft. 7 in. or 8 in., slight build, thin long features, red freckled face, clean-shaved; dressed in brownish-grey tweed suit and hard black hat. Offender obtained the money from complainant by falsely representing that her husband had sent him to get £1 10s. change.

Lyttelton. —loth instant, that steps may be taken to compel him to support his illegitimate child, an inmate of the Receiving Home, Christchurch, John Evans, age about thirty, height 5 ft. 10 in., bridge-builder and labourer, stout build, brown hair, fresh complexion, brown moustache only; was last heard of in Greymouth.

Dunedin. —On or about 7th ultimo, on warrant for deserting his wife, Delia Redfern, at Dunedin, Edward Henry Redfern, age thirty-nine, height 5 ft. 6 in. or 7 in., cook and ship’s steward, native of Scotland, stout build, fair complexion, brown hair, bald on top, clean-shaved except brown moustache ; old scar on side of head. Is said to have been employed as cook on the s.s. “ Whangape.”

Dunedin.— About 2nd instant, on warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Henry Collie, age twenty-five, height about 5 ft. 5 in., clerk, colonial, strong build, fresh complexion, full face, brown hair, clean-shaved; generally dressed in greytweed suit and hard hat. Complainant, Amanda Porter, Dunedin.

Bluer. —6th instant, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “ Wakanui,” at the Bluff, Angus Mathieson, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 8 in., quartermaster, native of Scotland, blue eyes, brown hair, clean-shaved, dark complexion, well built; dressed in serge suit, light-coloured tweed cap, wears kerchief round his neck.
