Newmarket.— 22nd ultimo, from the shed on (he United Hockey Cub grounds, a dark-brown brief-bag, about 14 in. long, imitation crocodile-skin, well worn, slight scratches about ljin. long on one side, value £1; a light-and-dark green neck tie ; and about 7s. in silver —pr perty of HARRY NORTHGROFT, clerk: a Panama hat, nearly new, with black-ribbon band, “New Zealand Clothing Factory” on inside, value £1; a pocket-knife with two blades, white bone handle turning yellow; and 4s. Cd. in silver—properiy of OLIVER SCOTT, cleik: a dark-tweed overcoat, name under collar sewn on, black lining, and black-and-white lining in sleeves; a dark-tweed cap, and strap, value £1 19s. 6d.— property of HENRY BARTON SPEIGHT, clerk, Epsom.
Onehunga.— Between 15th and 17th ultimo, from the scow “ Reliance,” property of ALBION POLSON and EDWARD STROM, master mariner and maie, a pair of rubber sea-boots; a pair of lace up boots; a pair leather slippers ; a short black oilskin, collar lined with red flaunel; a grey-tweed great-coat, very heavy, with straps across the back, also small straps on end of sleeves; two brown-tweed sac coats, under flap near collar on one is marked “Made in Boston”; two paiis of brown-tweed trousers; a pair of grey-tweed trousers and vest; a white-linen sheet and pillow-case; a grey sweat*r with collar ; a bo k, “New Zealand Pilot, 1891”; two nautical almanacs of New Zealand, 1904 and 1906 ; a Briscoe new band-saw, “Can’t be Beat” engraved on blade; brown sealskin cap with flaps; a long black oilskin, almost new ; a long brown overcoat (recovered); two pairs of working-pants, black cork-screw ; a black sac coat (recovered); a black coat and vest; two pairs of knitted underpants, light grey ; a pair of lace-up Bdmoral boots, size 8 ; one pair elastic-side boots marked with red paint; two blue woi king-shirts ; one grey woollen singlet, short sleeves ; one nautical book, entitled “Rule of the Road,” blue cover ;
two black sac coats ; tvto dark-flannel sbirts; a box thick cigars; two blue sweaters; a canvas clothes-bag; a soft brown-f It hat; a pair of white knitted drawers ; two pairs dark-tweed pants ; a white soft shirt; a dark soft shirt: total value, £l3 ss.
Wanganui. —lsth ultimo, from outside the Technical School, property of JESSIE McINTYRE, school-teacher, a ladies’ Star bicycle, lilos. 10642 and 4653, black-steel rim-brake attached to back wheel, spring broken under saddle, mud guards, white handle-grips, chain-covering broken; value, £7. Identifiable.
Masterton. —lßtli ultimo, from Watson’s boardinghouse, an English lever silver hnniing-watch, a. few small dents in front case, V on inside case, and a Bengal razor-case, value £5, property of H. PETTIT; a white-handled Beng 1 mzor and case, a nearly new black hard hat, size 7| in., value £l, property of GEORGE WATTS; a nearly new pair of darktweed trousers, with very small check, size 5, a piece of V-sh ped greenstone, silver-mounted, value £1 95., property of P. BURKE ; a nearly new grey waterproof overcoat, “ Defiance” brand, 52 in. long, value £2 55., property GEORGE THOMPSON; a small Bee clock, about 2 in. in diameter, numeral figures, value 3s. 6d., property of LIZZIE SCALLEY. Suspicion attached to John Charles Wyllie and Dave Dow. Descriptions: First, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 4 in., labourer, native of England, dark complexion, dark-brown hair, brown eyes, dark moustache only; dressed in dark-blue suit. (See Police Gazette, 1900, page 122.) Second, age about twenty-five, height 5 ft. 6in., fair complexion, clean-shaved; dressed in dark-blue suit and hard hat.
Wellington. —loth ultimo, from Feathtrston Street, the property of SYDNEY JONES, clerk, a gentlemen’s Crescent bicycle, No. 124 ; value £7. Identifiable.
Wellington.— 24th August last, from Willis Street, property of WILLIAM ALBERT DRURY, accountant, a gentlemen’s Dayton bicycle, No. 67619 ; value, £6 10s. Identifiable.
Blenheim. —19th ultimo, from the buggy of FRANCTS THOMAS CLARKE, draper, a large fawn-coloured Mosgiel rug, check-pattern on one side, “ F.T.C.” on linen sewn on one corner; value, £2. Identifiable.
Blackball. —l7th ultimo, from the Blackball Hotel, property of EVEREIT BEDELPH, sawmill hand, a blacktweed coat, a pocket-book containing twenty shares in North Crown Lyle Mine, ten shares in Lyla Tarses, Tasmania, a bank-book showing deposits for about £IOO in Queenstown. Tasmania Savings-bank, a gold band ring, with “E. 8.” engraved on it.
Christchurch —3rd or 4th ultimo, from the wash-house of FREDERICK HURRELL, labourer, Linwood, a gentlemen’s Kent bicycle, rat-trap pedals, reversible handles, celluloid grips, one pedal-crank bent, celluloid mud-guards; value, £5.
Christchurch’ —31st August last, from the Canterbury College grounds, property of FRANK OSBORNE, a gentlemen’s Record free-wheel bicycle, No. 1274, celluloid mudguards, rat-trap pedals, Brooks saddle, straight bars, horn grips; value, £l2 10s.
St. Albans. —19th ultimo, from the dwelling of AGNES AITKEN, Mansfield Avenue, three sovereigns, a half-sover-eign, a lady’s gold band ring with oblong garnet in clawsetting, value £2 ; a lady’s very old plain gold ring, with dark-brown stone in centre with four very small diamonds round it, set in silver, very old-fashioned. Identifiable. Breaking and entering by window.
Port Chalmers. —l4th ultimo, from the Sailor’s Rest, property of EDWARD McLEOD, carpenter, a heavy darkgrey tweed overcoat, lined with green waterproof tartan, black-bone buttons (the third one from top missing), no cape, match-pocket on outside and breast-pocket inside; value, £4. Identifiable.
Dunedin. —llth August last, from REUBEN HAWKES, when under the influence of liquor, a gold hunting Waltham watch, No. 1287607, “R. H.” on case ; a rolled-gold double chain; a gold locket; a sovereign-case containing four sovereigns : value, £l4 16s. Complainant was assaulted and robbed by two men, names unknown. One about twenty-
seven years of age, 5 ft. lOin. high the other about twentytwo years of age, 5 ft. 7 in. high. Identification doubtful.
Dunedin. Between April and 31st August last, from Clifton House, property of W. T. NEIL, clerk, a gentlemen’s gold ring set with single diamond; a gold band ring, “W. T. W.” on it; and a gold-mounted ribbon-guard : value, £2O. Identifiable.
