Wellington. —On the 3rd instant, the body of a man> name unknown was found on the beach at Oterangi, near Terawhiti. It was in a decomposed condition, and had apparently been dead for about three weeks. The features were unrecognisable, and the body was buried where it was found. Description : Height 5 ft. 5 in., about 10 st. weight, head appears to have been bald, only a small quantity of brown hair being visible above one ear. The teeth were good, but the two eye-teeth were missing. There were no tattoo or other marks on the body, which was clothed in a new single-breasted vicuna suit, a cotton shirt with collar, grey-flannel undershirt, brownwoollen socks, lace up boots which appear to have been tanned, and an oilskin coat tightly buttoned. In the pockets were found a brass watch-chain, double curb pattern, with a small open-faced watch attached, No. 444501, on inner and outer cases. On the inside of the watch were engraved the letters “0.K.,n0w C.E.K., 1888, Meerane,” and “Hobart, 1891, Meerane.” Beside the watch there was a singlebladed knifa, a pipe, two keys on a ring, and several other minor articles.
