Auckland. EDWIN CHARLES SOMERVILLE AND CO., Upper Queen Street, a sugar-basin, a cream-jug, a cruet (three bottles), a bell, a jam-spoon, a butter knife, a toast rack and stand, a cream-jug, six serviette-rings, a teapot, a breakfast-cruet (two bottles), two pairs of sugar-tongs, and a quantity of spoons and forks branded “ E.C.S. & Co.”; value, £7. Entrance effected by skeleton key.
Auckland. —2lst or 22nd December last, from the cabin of ALICE WARD, s.s. “Talune,” between Gisborne and Auckland, a ladies’ gold hunting-watch, No. 242069, “ A.G.W.” engraved on inside of case; value, £5 12s. Identifiable.
Karangahake. —Between 27th December last and 27th ultimo, from a room at the Old Woodstock Mine, the property of the TALISMAN CONSOLIDATED GOLDMINING COMPANY, a pestle and mortar, about l|cwt., about 10 in. in diameter at the top, would be useful for crushing small quantities of quartz, and may have been taken to the Thames ; value, £2. Identifiable.
Ponsonby.— 2sth ultimo, from the dwelling of F. TAIT, a ladies’ 18 ct. gold ring set with three sapphires and two diamonds, has been repaired, the 18 ct. on ring defaced ; value, £6 10s. Suspicion attached to a man, name unknown, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. sin., hawker, stout build, heavy dark moustache, dark complexion; dressed in dark clothes, hawks tinware.
Waipukurau. —3rd instant, from the whare of ALEXANDER McKAY, a pair of nearly new dark-tweed pants with vertical stripe, value £1 75.; a pair of braces, value 35.; a Brazilian-straw hat, value 10s. 6d. ; a half-sovereign and a sixpence; also 4s. in silver, the property of HENRY E. EBBETT. Suspicion attached to a man, name unkown, age about forty, height about 5 ft. 7 in. or 8 in., stout build, clean-shaved except heavy dark moustache turning grey, full round face, dark florid complexion; dressed in dark coat and vest, light-tweed pants, and dark skull cap; was carrying a small swag in a sack. Supposed to have gone by train towards Napier.
Stratford. —lst instant, from the dwelling of SYDNEY GEORGE POTTER, storekeeper, five £1 notes, three pounds in silver and coppers, a cheque for £1 on the Bank of Australasia, No. A 151103, drawn by William Robertson in favour of Mrs. Robertson. Breaking and entering by window.
Stratford. —lst instant, from the dwelling of RICHARD ZINSLIE, saddler, a small nickel-plated revolver, a box of revolver-cartridges, a ladies’ gold hunting-watch (glass broken, “Mary Zinslie ” engraved on case), a heavy gold brooch with yellow stone in centre, two old-gold rings set with small stones, a silver-curb chain with silver medal attached, and ss. 6d. in silver ; total value, £9 10s. Breaking and entering by window.
The Port (Nelson).— Between Ist and 4th instant, from the. Custom House Hotel, the property of WILLIAM SWIFT, Railway Department, Greymouth, a three-quarter dark-brown coat, velvet collar slightly faded, dark buttons, one of the outside pockets has been mended ; value, £3 10s, Identifiable.
Christchurch. —2sth ultimo, from Cathedral Square, the property of JAMES A. CASSIDY, solicitor, a gentlemen’s Humber bicycle, No. 51723 ; value, £2O. Identifiable.
Christchurch. —13th ultimo, from Colombo Street, the property of FRANK WILSON, message boy, a gentlemen’s black - enamelled bicycle, 22 in. frame, upturned handles, Record saddle, new Dunlop tire on front wheel; value, £4. Identifiable.
Christchurch. ROBINSON ELLISON, No. 40 Poulson Street, a gentlemen’s gold signet ring, “ R. E.” engraved on it, and about ss. in silver. Suspicion attaohed to a man, name unknown, age about twenty, height about 5 ft. 7 in., slight build, dark hair and complexion ; dressed in dark clothes and straw hat. Identifiable. Breaking and entering by window.
