PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland. —17th March last, on warrant for disobeying an order of Court to pay £1 a week for the maintenance of his wife, Alfred Alwyn King, age forty-three, height 5 ft. 4£ in., a cabinet-maker and carpenter, native of England, stout build, brown moustache only, dark-grey eyes, frons teeth even and white, erect figure ; dressed in darktweed suit and black hat. Arrears to the 17th March last amount to £l6 17s. 6d.

Auckland. —23rd December last, for breach of the First Offenders’ Probation Act, Percy McQuillan, age twentythree, height 5 ft. Bin., a labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes. He was admitted to probation for two years at Auckland on the 23rd December, 1904, and has failed to comply with the conditions of his release. Arrest desired.

Auckland. —2nd August last, on warrant, for deserting from the cable steamer “ Iris,” Ah Hung, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 7 in., a fireman, native of China; dressed, when last seen, in the usual Chinese attire.

Auckland, —9th February last, on warrant, for deserting from the cable steamer “Iris,” Ah Sie, age twentyfour, height sft. Gin., a fireman, native of China; dressed, when last seen, in the usual Chinese attire.

Helensville. boat (recovered), value £4, the property of James Stewart, storekeeper, Julian Paitry, age nineteen, height about 5 ft. 6 in., a fisherman, stout build, dark-brown hair, sallow

complexion; dressed in blue suit and tweed cap. Supnosed to be now in the Waikato district.

Hamilton. —29th ultimo, that a subpoena may be served on him to give evidence at the Supreme Court, Auckland, on 15th proximo, in the case Rex v. Collins, breaking and entering and theft, Arthur Bell, age about twenty-seven, height sft. 7in., a flax-mill hand, fresh complexion, dark hair, dark moustache only, medium build, smart active appearance. Well known at Foxton.

Te Aroha.— 27th ultimo, on warrant for failing to provide for the maintenance of his illegitimate child, William Jackson, age about twenty eight, height 5 ft. 9 in. or 10 in., native of New Zealand, sharp features, wiry build, darkbrown hair, brown moustache only, quiet manner. Complainant, Mary Ann Baker, Aratiatia.

Rotorua. —7th ultimo, on warrant for theft of a gentlemen’s black enamelled bicycle, 25 in. frame, plated rims, dropped handles, one side bent inwards, Dunlop tire on back wheel, Oceanic on front, “ 8.5. A.” on all fittings, Morrow’s hub on back wheel; value, £9, the property of George Francis Bennett, Rotorua, W. Johnson (probably fictitious), age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 9 in., medium build, fair complexion and hair, light-brown moustache ; dressed in dark-brown suit and hard black hat. His correct name may be W. Storey.

Hastings. —lßth ultimo, on two warrants of commitment to Napier Gaol for fourteen days each in default of paying £3 10s., fine and costs for obscene language and resisting police, Rhoderick Mclsaacs, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 11 in., a labourer, native of Nova Scotia, strong build, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, fair moustache only, slightly bow-legged, blue dot on left side of nose, long scar on nose ; dressed in dark-blue suit and hard black hat.

Palmerston North. —24th April, 1903, on warrant for theft, from the bedroom of Michael Terrill, of a hand-bag containing a number of watches, &c.; value, £4O (see Police Gazette, 1903, pages 118 and 162), Robert Hamilton, alias Sydney Bob, age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 6 in., a labourer, native of New Zealand, dark complexion, hair, and moustache, blue ejes ; usually dressed in black suit and hard black hat. He was arrested at Christchurch and admitted to bail in his own recognizance, but failed to answer to tbe charge. (See Police Gazette, 1905, page 98.) Supposed to have gone to Sydney.

Masterton. —lst instant, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Gaol for one month for obscene language, Donald Wilson, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 7 in., a flax-mill hand, native of New Zealand, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, blue eyes, long nose ; dressed in lightcheck suit and hard hat. (See Police Gazette, 1904, page 138.) Will propably be in the company of Charles Williams, alias William Doyle. (See following paragraph.)

Masterton.— Ist instant, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Gaol for one month for assault, Charles Williams, alias William Doyle, age thirty-five, height sft. sin., a flax-mill hand, native of New Zealand, fresh complexion, black hair, grey eyes, small nose; dressed in grey-check suit and cap. (See Police Gazette, 1904, page 98.) Will probably be in the company of Donald Wilson. (See preceding paragraph.)

Christchurch. —2nd instant, on warrant for deserting his wife, Margaret Martin, at Christchurch, William Martin, age thirty-one, height 5 ft. 7in., an engine driver, native of Ireland, short stout build, light-brown hair, blue eyes, broad fat face, reddish moustache, large swelling on back of each hand.

Rakaia. —29th ultimo, on warrant for failing to make provision for the maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Frank Newman, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 8 in. or 9 in., a labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, reddish complexion, red hair, clean shaved ; usually dressed in dark sac suit. He was recently seen in Wellington, where his 6ister, Mrs. William Lewis, resides (address unknown). Her husband is said to be employed in a bacon-factory there.

Oamaru. —20th ultimo, on warrant for theft of a pair of men’s lace up boots, light make, size 7, pointed toes, patch on side of right and toe of left, value 155., the property of Alfred Calder, labourer, James Moore, age about thirtyfive, height 5 ft. 6 in., a labourer and seaman, native of England, stout build, dark hair, inclined to curl, dark complexion, short thick dark moustache, speaks with strong North of England accent; dressed in grey-check suit, brown sweater, and Dr. Jim hat. Supposed gone to Bluff or Stewart Island. He is now suspected of stealing James McKenzie’s bicycle. (See Police Gazette, 1905, page 147.)

Dunedin. —17th ultimo, on warrant for theft of a buggy-rug (recovered), value 155., the property of Robert A. Cantrell, N.E. Harb ur, Otago, Joseph Joyce, alias Jose, age thirty, height 6 ft., a cook, native of Victoria, strong build, dark complexion, hair, and eyes; dressed in an old brown coat and vest, dark trousers, and old brown slouch hat.
