INQUIRIES, ETC., FROM OUTSIDE NEW ZEALAND.

Sydney.—A warrant has been issued by the Central Police Bench for the arrest of Edward Kiernan, charged with disobeying an order of Court for the support of his wife. He is about forty years of age, 5 ft. 5 in. or 6 in. high, medium build, dark hair, rather bald in front, dark complexion, clean-shaved ; a fireman. He may now be employed on one of the coastal boats, as he is said to have joined the s.s. “ Talune ” at Dunedin as fireman in September, 1903, and was discharged at Auckland on the 11th March last, and afterwards shipped as fireman on a vessel

trading to the South Sea Islands. He now owes £2B 10s; for the support of his wife and child, who are destitute. If found he is to be induced to remit the amount now due. (See New South Wales Police Gazette, 1903, page 418, and New Zealand Police Gazette, 1903, page 290.) (04/822.)

Adelong. —A warrant has been issued by the Adelong Bench for the arrest of William Francis Bollard, charged with wife-desertion. He is twenty-five years of age, 5 ft. 5 in. high, fair complexion, very small fair moustache, medium build, blind in left eye, having white spot over sight, scar inside of right hand, slightly stooped shoulders ; dressed in dark suit and black guernsey with red stripes around neck. He is accompanied by a young half-caste Chinese woman ; said to be in Sydney, and supposed to be leaving for New Zealand or West Australia. Complainant, Bridget Ann Bollard, Grahamstown, Adelong. Victoria. Murray, Bolton, and Jimmy the Snake, on warrants ior conspiring to defraud Jens Peter Devancier, at Melbourne, on the 19ih October, 1903, of £37 ; and jewellery : value £45. The third man, known as James Russell, was arrested in West Australia and extradited to Victoria. The second man —Bolton, known as Robert Bolton —was arrested in Sydney, but absconded while on bail. He is now described as: Fifty-three years of age, sft. Bin. high, medium build, about 11 st. weight, dark or sallow complexion, dark-brown hair turning grey, dark - brown moustache and short whiskers turning grey, is tattooed with a rose over bow, surrounded by thistles and shamrocks on right forearm, has a scar on left eyebrow, bridge of nose crooked, and appears to have been broken, one leg slightly bent, and walks lame ; a well-known magsman. The arrest of Bolton is desired in any of the Australian States and in New Zealand. Murray will, no doubt, be in Bolton’s company. He is described as thirty-five years of age, 6 ft. high, very fair complexion, long fair moustache, fair hair, stout build. Police Gazette, 1903, page 419, and 1904, page 430.)

England. —lnquiry requested as to the whereabouts of Herbert Ainslie Marsh, who left England in January, 1901, and on the 22nd October, 1902, wrote from Wanganui. He went from there to New Plymouth, and had previously been stopping at Warner’s Hotel, Christchurch, and had excellent letters of introduction to the Bishop of Wellington and others in New Zealand and Australia. He is about 6 ft. high, well made, beard, whiskers, and moustache turning grey, bald, and of a good appearance. Inquiry by his brother, N. N. Marsh, solicitor, Birklands, Heene Road, Worthing.
