BODY FOUND.
Johnsonville. — On the 21st instant the body of a man was found on the sea-beach between Plimmerton and Pukerua. Deceased appeared to have been about 6 ft. high, very thin and emaciated, and naked except boots and socks ; the boots were shooters, half-soltd and well worn, and had evidently been of good quality; the socks were of brown wool with white toes. About a miie from the body a centre-board pleasure-boat was found. It was about 14ft. long, 4ft. Bin. beam, painted red on the outside, and blue and brown on the inside, “ Contoy ” painted on the stern in red letters on white ground, evidently done by an amateur. The boat is very old and patched. One oar, painted red, was in the boat, and was split at each side of the blade. Owing to the condition of the body and the inaccessibility of. the place, no inquest was held.
