Auckland. Dr. JAMES MOIR, a silver-mounted set of winkers, very broad nickel-silver forehead-band, plain nickel-silver rosettes, straight nickel-silver bar bit; value, £l. Identifiable.
Auckland.— 22nd ultimo, from the bedroom of EMIL GASPARD, Albert Hotel, a gentlemen’s half-hunting gold keyless lever watch, No. 17906, value £4O ; a heavy gold double albert chain, long links with round link between each, a square gold locket set with a diamond, value £25 ; a Chubbs’ safe key; and 6s. in silver. Suspicion attached to John Wilson (name supposed fictitious), age about forty, height 5 ft. 9 in., respectable appearance, slight build, pale complexion, prominent nose, brown hair, fair moustache only ; dressed in dark sac suit and small black hard-felt hat.
Auckland. - 22nd or 23rd October last, from No. 4 Jetty, Quay Street, the property of JOHN GRAY, fisherman, a boat 18 ft. long, 6 ft. beam, no lining, two anchors and warps inside, wooden pegs instead of rowlocks, platform on stern, two paddles ; value, £lO. Identifiable.
Papakura.— 17th ultimo, from the hut of JOSEPH FLANAGAN, farmer, Drury, a blue-vicuna coat and vest; dark-tweed trousers with light-coloured stripe ; a black hard hat, size 6fin., “Geo. Foulds ” on inside; a white shirt, with rolled-gold studs in it; a blue-and-white necktie; a veterinary surgeon’s book with cover off : total value, £7 15s. Identifiable. Door of hut was prized open.
Mount Roskill Road. —13th or 14th ultimo, from a saddle-rack in the stable of JOHN TILL, baker, a gentlemen’s colonial-made saddle, “ Jones ” stamped on the flaps ; round leather girth, nickel-silver stirrups : value, £5. Identifiable.
Otahuhu. the property of IVY ANSLEY, a gold medal with “Ivy Ansley ” engraved thereon ; a ladies’ silver hunting-watch, I. A. on it, value £2 ; a gold buckle ring set with a diamond and sapphire, value £10; a gold ring set with diamond chips and rubies, value £2 10s. Identifiable. Entrance was effected by breaking a window. The articles were taken from a portmanteau.
Napier.— loth or 11th ultimo, from the shop of WILLIAM EDWARD WELBEY, butcher, Western Spit, about 701 b. of beef, mutton, and suet, and a blue-and-white striped butchers’ apron ; value, £2 Bs. Apron identifiable. Entrance effected by unscrewing a bolt securing the shutters.
Inglewood. —Between Ist and 31st October last, from an unoccupied house, the property of GEORGE FOX, a silverplated cruet and a black-silk dress ; value, £5. Identifiable.
Waverley.— 9th ultimo, from the jockeys’ room at the Waverley Racecourse, the property of JOHN COLLINS, jockey, a nearly new brown pigskin saddle, weight, pale-blue silk lining, no stirrup leathers, irons, or girth, “ J. Collins, Waverley,” stamped with indelible ink on seat, pommel, and flaps, value £lO ; also a soft sheepskin saddlebag with “ J. Collins ” stamped in several places, value ss. Identifiable.
Wellington. —lßth or 19th October last, from the forecastle of the s.s. “Himitangi,” the property of NEIL McLEOD, seaman, a 9-carat gold curb guard, a 9-carat sovereign-case with N. McL. thereon, a brown-coloured stone pendant (gold mounted), and £2 10s. in money; total value, £ll.
Christchurch. —Between 14th and 22nd October last, from a paddock, the property of ANNIE NOONAN, a very light bay saddle mare with black points, 16 hands high, white star on forehead, long tail and mane, heavy hindquarters, in medium condition ; value, £25.
Christchurch. — 31st October last, from the corner of Colombo and Kilmore Streets, the property of WILLIAM SCOTT, No. 16, Carlton Place, a gentlemen’s New Hudson bicycle, No. 83638 over 641; value, £23. Identifiable.
Christchurch. —13th ultimo, from THOMAS MENZIES, at the Addington Show-grounds, a gentlemen’s open-faced silver English lever watch, Nos. 73915 and 23835 ; a gentlemen’s 18-carat gold chain, long-link pattern, a gold key, and pendant attached with swivel ring —the pendant has a white stone and a brown stone at respective ends: value, £lO. Identifiable. Theft from the person.
Christchurch.— -Between 7th and 17th ultimo, from a boardinghouse, the property of ANDREW ANDERSON, No. 35, Tuam Street, a black Chesterfield overcoat, with two side pockets, a breast pocket, and an inside pocket, “ Strange and Co.” on the tab ; value, £5. Identifiable.
Christchurch. —21st or 22nd September last, from the coach-house of WILLIAM BOWES CLARKSON, Riccarton, a Kaiapoi rug, grey plaid on one side, the other side brown, value £2 ; a rug, light-brown plaid on one side, the other side brown, value 10s. ; a coachman’s blue-cloth livery coat, a small pocket in front, and one at the back, clothcovered buttons, value £6. Identifiable.
Sydenham.— sth ultimo, from Colombo Street, the property of ROBERT HALIBURTON, asphalter, Braddon Street, a gentlemen’s Kent bicycle, back tire scratched on one side by rubbing against the frame, rusty handle-bars, cork grips, toe-clips, and tool-bag ; value, £B. Identifiable.
Phillipstown.— 18th ultimo, from the dwelling of JOHN BURGESS, ironmoulder, Randolph Street, a ladies’ gold keyless engraved hunting-watch, E.B. engraved on case, ring missing out of stem ; a ladies’ very fine long neck-chain, gold centrepiece set with ruby; value, £6. Identifiable. Entrance effected by the window.
, Lyttelton. —l6th ultimo, from the shop of THOMAS GEORGE VANGIONI, chemist, a crossed cheque, No. T 66857, for £6 155., drawn in favour of D.1.C., Christchurch, on Bank of Australia, Lyttelton, signed “ Thos. Vangioni.”
Lyttelton. —3lst October or Ist ultimo, from a cabin in the s.s. “ Penguin,” the property of WILLIAM CHARLES HARRISON, a brown-leather gladstone bag, one of the handles broken, W.C.H. in black ink on the side of bag,
containing six white shirts, a suit of blue serge, twelve pairs of black socks marked H in white wool; value, £3. Identifiable.
Sheffield. — 18th or 19th ultimo, from the Springfield Hotel stables, the property of WILLIAM MITCHELL, Greymouth, a dark-bay hack mare, seven years old, hands high, small star on forehead, two small white spots on one front foot, barb-wire marks on legs, bang tail, forelock cut short, broken to harness; value, £ls.
Kaiapoi. —Between 9th and 13th ultimo, from the verandah of ALEXANDER ALLISON’S dwelling, a gentlemen’s Red Bird bicycle, No. 7149, turned-up handles, 22 in. frame, laced saddle, Dunlop tires ; value, £lO. Identifiable.
Ashburton. —6th ultimo, from the Windermere Railwaystation, the property of MRS. HUITT, a loose black jacket, lined throughout with white satin, white-silk undersleeves, trimmed with braid and black-lace insertion, deep collar ; value, £5. Identifiable.
Ashburton. —Between the Ist September last and Ist ultimo, from the Ashburton Hotel, the property of JOHN MULLAN, licensee, a silver lever hunting-watch, maker Young, Dunedin, “J. Mullan ” and a date engraved on inside of case ; value, £3 10s. Identifiable.
Riverton. : —Between 12th October last and 4th ultimo, from the railway-station at Colac, the property of ALEXANDER SUTHERLAND, two Kaiapoi rugs (one a chocolate colour, the other a black-and-white check with a red stripe running through it), two old brown blankets, a nickel-plated carpenters’ rachet brace, five assorted bits, and four spanners ; value, £5. Identifiable.
