Horse and Cattle Stealing.
Thames. —Joseph Clark, farmer, Puriri, reports stolen, on the 10th or 11th instant, a small bay mare, aged, about 14 hands high, mark of collar on shoulder, value £5 ; also an old saddle and bridle, value £l. Identifiable.

Gisborne. —John Dawson, charged with theft of a horse, the property of Barker Bros., has been arrested by Detective Mcilveney and Constable J. W. Hollis, Auckland police, and sentenced to twelve months’ probation.

Martinborough. — Edward Moore is charged on warrant with the theft, between the 21st February last and 31st ultimo, of a dark - chestnut hack mare (recovered), value £l4; a nearly new colonial saddle, large knee-pads, maker Evans, Martinborough; a nearly new double-rein bridle, nickel curb bit, value £7 55.: the property of Donald McDonald. Description : Colonial, cab-driver, about thirty years of age, 5 ft. 6 in. high, stoutish build, fresh complexion, brown hair, clean-shaved; dressed in a brown suit. He sold the horse at Masterton on the 23rd ultimo, and was seen in Wellington on the 3rd instant.
Oxford. —William Thomas Gilchrist, farmer, Kerikeri, reports stolen, between the Ist December last and sth instant, eleven crossbred sheep, two and four tooth, principally wethers, branded G.X. in red on left side, several ear-marks ; value, £9 7s. Identifiable.
