Deserting Wives and Families, &c.
Auckland. — Andrew Johnston is charged on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for one month for disobeying an order of Court to pay 7s. a week towards the maintenance of Margaret Yeitch. Description : A native of New Zealand, carrier, twenty-one years of age, 5 ft. 9 in. high, stout build, dark complexion and hair, blue eyes, two small moles on cheek, “J. McKeever ” on left forearm, large scar over left eye ; dressed in blue-serge suit, hard black-felt hat. He was in arrears £1 Is. up to and for the 2nd September, 1902.

Auckland. — Alfred James Huett, charged with default of maintenance, has been arrested by Constable T. O’Grady, Onehunga police.

Thames. —George Tanner, alias Cockhead, charged with failing to provide for the maintenance of his illegitimate child : Warrant cancelled.
Marton.— John Kearney is charged on warrant with failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child. Description: A native of New South Wales, shearer, thirty to thirty-five years of age, 6 ft. high, slight build, dark hair and complexion, clean shaved except dark moustache ; dressed in dark sac suit and black hardfelt hat worn well down on his forehead. May return to New South Wales.
(See Police Gazette, 1903, page 27.) Lower Hutt.— Frank Mikoz, charged with wife-desertion, was seen on the Wellington wharf with his violin shortly before the departure of the s.s. “ Haupiri ” on the 24th ultimo, and is supposed to have gone on her.
Greymouth.— Frederick John Fletcher is charged on warrant with deserting his wife, Emma Caroline Fletcher, since the 9th ultimo. Description: A native of England, thirty-four years of age, sft. 6Jin. high, stout build, dark complexion, clean-shaved except dark moustache ; usually wears dark clothes and soft-felt hat ; is fond of drink. Supposed to have gone towards Reefton looking for work.
Christchurch.— William Herbert Ayers is charged on warrant with deserting his wife, Janet Ayers, since the 4th ultimo. Description: A native of England, coachpainter, about thirty-seven years of age, about 5 ft. BJin. high, thin build, dark sallow complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes ; dressed in grey coat, dark-tweed trousers, brown hat, and dark shirt. (See Police Gazette, 1900, page 191.)

Christchurch.— Thomas Richards, charged with default of maintenance, has been arrested by Constable T. Evenden, Rangiora police.
