(See Police Gazette, 1901, page 157.) Auckland. —Walter McQuoid, charged with wife-desertion, has been arrested by Constable P. J. Brown, Ponsonby police.

Napier. — Grant Westoby is charged on warrant with failing to provide for the maintenance of his illegitimate child. Description: Supposed colonial, a saddler, about twenty-five years of age, about 5 ft. 7 in. high, medium build, dark complexion and hair, dark moustache only; dressed in dark-tweed sac coat and vest, dark blue trousers, and dark cap. Complainant, Lizzie Davies, domestic, Napier.

Masterton. Sydney James is charged on warrant with deserting his wife, Ellen James, since about the 9th ultimo. Description : A native of England, wood-turner, forty-nine years of age, 5 ft. 4 in. high, medium build, fair complexion, grey hair, large scar on left wrist; dressed in faded brown-tweed suit. (See Police Gazette, 1902, page 180). Supposed to have gone to Sydney, New South Wales.

Wellington. — William Weldon is charged on warrant with deserting his wife, Eliza Weldon, since the 25th ultimo. Description : A native of New Zealand, labourer, twentyfour years of age, 5 ft. 6 in. high, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair and eyes ; dressed in dark suit and black soft-felt hat. Is identical with William Weldon, charged with using insulting language to Constable A. Hammond. (See Police Gazette, 1902, page 91.) Photograph filed in the Inspector’s Office, Wellington.

Wellington.— Henry McDonald Wilson is charged on warrant with deserting his vife, Kezia Wilson, since 1896. Description: A native of Scotland, fireman, about forty years of age, about 6 ft. high, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, moustache only. Is said to have been employed on boats trading to the islands. Photograph filed in the Inspector’s Office, Wellington.

Nelson.- James Pert is charged on warrant with failing to provide for the maintenance of his wife : Description : A native of England, gardener and labourer, fifty-three years of age, sft. Gin. high, fair hair, fair moustache only, grey eyes, high cheek-bones, scar on right temple about 1 in. long; fond of drink and card-playing. Was last heard of at Blenheim about three years ago.

Westport. —Martin Bowe, charged with deserting his wife, has been arrested by Constable T. Godfrey, Charleston police.

Riverton. — Ly King is charged on warrant with deserting his wife, Ellen Ly King, since the 27th June last. Description: A native of China, a storekeeper and bookkeeper, about fifty-nine years of age, 5 ft. 5 in. or 6 in. high, sallow Complexion, black hair cut short and turning grey.

Cromwell. — Archibaldl Woodhouse is charged on warrant with failing to provide for the maintenance of his illegitimate child. Description : A native of New Zealand, miner, twenty-seven years of age, about 5 ft. 10 in. high, dark complexion, full beard, which may now be shaved off; he was a member of the Eighth Contingent, and is supposed to be on his return to New Zealand with the contingent.
