Frederick Lawrence is charged on warrant with the larceny of £23 155., moneys of the trustees of the Leongatha Labour Colony (Colonel Goldstein, managing trustee, 364, Little Lonsdale Street, Melbourne), at Leongatha, on the 11th instant. Description : About forty-three years of age, 5 ft. 11 in. high, thin, dark sallow complexion, dark eyes, dark hair, inclined to he bald on forehead, heavy dark moustache and sideboards only, slight stoop; may wear a black-vicuna sac suit and a dark-brown felt hat, worn slightly at back. Left Leoogatha on the 11th instant, and was seen in Melbourne on the 12th instant. Offender was secretary to the labour colony, and filled out a cheque for £25 instead of £1 ss. He may go to Ballarat. Has been a bookkeeper on stations in Queensland, and has been in New Zealand. His proper name is said to be Hepburn, and it is said he has relatives in Ballarat.—o.ll229. 29th December, 1900.

Tillam, agent, 2, Parliament Place, Melbourne, reports stolen at Dunedin, N.Z., or from the s.s. “Moana,” between Dunedin and Melbourne, between the 15th and 22nd instant, a ladies’ five-stone diamond half-hoop ring, diamonds surrounded by sparks ; a ladies’ gold band ring, “ Flo ” in black letters on it; a ladies’ gold ring, set with a large white sapphire in raised setting; a gent’s gold ring, black-enamelled, with “In Memory ”on it, set with small seed pearls; a gold bangle, set with a large white sapphire; and a ladies’ fob chain, silk ribbon with gold mounts, gold buckle in centre : value, £6.-0.11089. 26th December, 1900.
