Abandoned Child Found.

Auckland. John Tate is charged on warrant with abandoning the child mentioned in the above-quoted reference. Description: Colonial, twenty-three years of age, 5 ft. 5 in. or 6 in. high, medium build, dark complexion, dark curly hair, small dark .moustache, brown eyes, one upper tooth missing, erect gait, supposed to have a scar on the back of one hand near the thumb ; wore a dark suit and straw hat with black band; had a silver watch with small silver curb chain, and a black mackintosh coat; fond of drink. Was employed at the railway workshops, Newmarket. Elizabeth Hill, mother of the child, is now in custody on the same charge, and it has-been ascertained that Tate, the putative father, was implicated with her in the offence. He left Auckland on the 28th ultimo per s.s. “ Upolu ” for Fiji, and from there shipped per s.s. “ Warrimoo ” for Vancouver.
