“ The Arms Act, 1880.” —Fee of £1 for Dealer's License reimposed in North Island.
RANFURLY, Governor. ORDER IN COUNCIL. At the Government House, at Wellington, this thirteenth day of September, 1898. Present: His Excellency the Governor in Council. IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in him by “The Arms Act 1880,” and of all other powers and authorities in this behalf enabling b ; m, His Excellency the Governor of fcbe Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby revoke that portion of a certain Order in Council made and issued under the said Act on the twenty-fifth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-five, and now in force, which provides that from and after the date therein mentioned “ the fee of one pound payable in respect of a dealer’s license in the Form B in the First Schedule to the said Act shall no longer be chargeable ”; and in further pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities aforesaid, and with the like advice and consent as aforesaid, his said Excellency doth hereby order and declare that from and after the day on which this Order shall be in force the fee to be paid to a licensing officer under the said Act for a dealer’s license in the Form B in the First Schedule thereto, in the district contained within the North Island of New Zealand and the adjacent smaller islands, shall be one pound; and also doth hereby vary and alter the fees prescribed by the Second Schedule to the said Act for a dealer’s license in the Form B accordingly; a.nd, lastly, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities aforesaid, and with the like advice and consent as aforesaid, doth hereby declare that this Order shall be in force in the district hereinbefore mentioned from and after the first day of November now next ensuing. HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint the under-mentioned person to be an Inspector under “ The Factories Act, 1894,” and to assign to him the district set opposite his name, viz.:— Name. HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint District Constable Thomas Whitty to be Clerk of the Magistrate’s Court at Cheviot, from the Ist day of September instant, vice J. T. Hullen, resigned; Constable Denis Treacy to be Clerk of the Magistrate’s Court at Arrowtown, from the 15th day of September instant, vice Constable J. Mclntyre, transferred; and Constable James Ulysses Browne to be Clerk of the Magistrate’s Court at Russell, from the 13th day of September instant, vice Constable D. Gordon, transferred. T. THOMPSON.

THE unclaimed property described hereunder, and now in possession of the police at the stations named, will, unless previously claimed, be sold by public auction at the respective police - offices on Monday, the 10th October proximo, at noon, in accordance with the police regulations : Auckland : Two coats, double-barrelled gun, bracelet, and sundries. Napier : Small gold brooch, mackintosh coat, and purse. New Plymouth : Revolver, tent, and sundries. Wellington: Umbrella, Waterbury watch, blue overcoat,, box of clothes, and sundries. Blenheim : Saddle and stirrups, silver Geneva watch, and steel chain. Christchurch: Silver lever hunting-watch, two metal watches, gold brooch, gold ring, gold pin, two bicycles, single-barrelled gun, and sundries.
