J (See Police Gazette, 1898, page 89.) HawEra.— Mathew McNelies, absconding bankrupt, has been arrested by Constable B. Sheehan, Whangarei police, and sent to Auckland.
J (See Police Gazette, 1898, page 111.) Waitotara. —Thomas Gollard, charged on warrant of commitment, has been arrested by Constable L. Carroll, Brunnerton police. Fine and costs paid.
E - Wellington.— Frederick Muiri/charged on warrant with obtaining by falsb pretences jom W. F. Shortt, auctioneer, the sum oh £BO on the tfnfi 1 ultimo, and £3O on the 11th instant. Description : f/monial, a photographer, thirty years of age-/5 ft. Bhti. high, slight build, fair hair, clean-shaved except small fair moustache; usually dresses in light-coloured suit of clothes a well-known cyclist.
Offender may attempt to leave the colony. His wife is now residing with relatives (Calverts) in Dunedin.
Wellington. —W. Haggarty (supposed to be a fictitious name) is charged on warrant with false pretences on the: Customs Department on the 2Jtfh July, Supposed English, thirty-sixAWrs of a°;&,Aft. 4 in. high medium build, dark sac-suit, and hard £2 14s. 9d. by as fa sailor named William Halligan, to whonwtheAimount was due as wages. Offender is believed to be identical with Henry McMurray. (See Police Gazette, 1890, page 135.)
(See Police Gazette, 1898, page 129.) Wellington. —H. Hall, charged with having forged and uttered to Char Jes Cress a cheque for £6, has been arrested by Chief Detectiv i W. Campbell and committed for trial. Accused is identical with Frederick Parsloe, alias Pratt, alias Groves. (See Police Gazette, 1896, page 205.)
