Auckland. —Laurence Donnell is charged on warrant that he, having been adjudged a bankrupt, did abscond from his creditors on the 13th April, 1898. Description : A half-caste Greek, twenty-five to thirty years of age, about 5 ft. 7 in. high, slight build, dark hair and complexion, dark curled moustache, speaks English and Greek fluently ; dressed in a dark sac-coat, grey trousers and vest, and black-felt hat. Supposed to have gone to Pahi, and may be identical with Charles Anderson, alias B. G. Tonks, who absconded from bail at Aratapu on the 23rd ultimo. (See next notice.)

Aratapu. —Charles Anderson, alias B. C. Tonks. absconded from bail on tne i43rd ultimo. Description: A native of Newton, Auckland, twenty-six years of age, 5 ft. 7 in. high, slim build, dark-brown hair, clean-shaved, theatrical appearance ; twitches his eyebrows when speaking; dressed in a dark suit, white shirt with tie, tanned shoes (blackened), and yellow-straw hat with brown - leather strap ; fond of drink and billiards. May seek employment as a bush cook. Offender was arrested on warrant, issued at Pahi, for obtaining goods by false pretences, and AvAs admitted to bail, but has not since been heard of. ,V CuomK krill Q

Thames. — John Reid, charged with the theft of three letters, the property of Arthur William Wood, has been arrested by Sergeant William Murray, Tauranga police. The cheque for £8 9s. in favour of Hancock and Co. was found in possession of the offender, and the others were cashed by him. Complainant’s horse, saddle, and bridle have been recovered.

Masterton.— John Kilgour, alias O’Connell, is charged on warrant with ha*vmg~on the 9th May, 1898, obtained false pretences from Alexander Plenderson, watchmaker, a gold ring, value £2 10s. Offender is supposed colonial, about thirty years of age, about 5 ft. 6 in. high, medium build, faitf complexion, fair or reddish hair, reddish moustache and sideboards ; dressed in a greyish suit. He oame to Masterton from Pahiatua with a Mr. Knight, who had a mob of horses for sale, and obtained the ring by falsely representing that the horses were his own, and that he would pay when they were sold. He is supposed to have gone to the South Island.

Wellington. George Denmuth is charged on warrant with the theft of 125., money ofvFrancis E. Green, dairyman, on the 30th April, 1898. Wellington. —Charles Angus Wilson is charged on two /j warrants of commitment to the Terrace Gaol, each for seven ./Af days’ labour, in default of paying £1 35., fine and costs, each of two convictions for theft. Description: A native of Norway, a sailor, forty years of age, 5 ft. 3 in. high, stout / build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, grey eyes, shaved r , except thick browu moustache ; dressed when last seen in a/l/fr light-brown check suit, soft shirt with collar, and hard blackfelt hat; very fond of drink ; untidy appearance.

Blenheim. —A man, name unknown, is charged on warrant with having, on the 2Lst ultimo, forged a cheque for £7 65., and uttered the same to Hallenstein Bros, and Or'*' Co., New Zealand Clothing Company. Description : Supposed colonial, twenty to twenty-two years of age, 5 ft. 5 in . or 6 in. high, medium build, pale complexion, fair hairy slight fair moustache only; dressed in a coarse dark-tweed . sac-suit, flowers and red berries (supposed artificial) in but- jfj ton-hole of coat, light-coloured tennis shirt and necktie;'*' had a silver chain. The cheque is drawn on the Bank of New South Wales, Blenheim, in favour of H. Webley or bearer, and purports to be signed by A. Rodley, hairdresser, of Picton, but has been declared a forgery. Offender is supposed to have gone to Nelson or the West Coast, via Picton.
