Deserting Wives and Families, &c.

Auckland.— John Oscar Skogsborg, alias Oscar Fairs, is charged on warrant of commitment to Auckland Gaol for six months’ imprisonment for disobeying an order of Court to pay £1 per week towards the support of his wife, and failing to find sureties for £l5O. Description : A photographer, about thirty-five years of age, about sft. Bin. high, fair complexion, lignt-brown hair, bald on front of head, large eyes, high broad forehead, fair moustache only, smart appearance. He left Napier on the 24th ultimo for Auckland, via Wanganui, and is now supposed to be canvassing for enlargements in the Taranaki District.

Auckland. — John Stow is charged on warrant with disobeying an order of Court, made on the Bth January, 1894, to pay £1 per week towards the support of his children. Description : English, a baker, thirty-six years of age, sft. ljin. high, slovenly appearance, brown hair, grey eyes, prominent nose, scraggy light-brown beard whiskers and moustache, scar on left chin, wen on stomach. Auckland.— John Siren Francis Roussell is charged on warrant, issued on the 9th ultimo, with having deserted his wife, Emilv, since about six months ago. Description : A native of Jersey, a saddler and harness-maker, twenty-four years of age, sft. 6in. or 7in. high, olive complexion, stout build, dark hair and eyes, dark moustache only when last seen but may be growing a beard ; was wearing a diagonalcloth coat, and blue-striped trousers; speaks good English and a little French; foreign appearance; was formerly a canvasser for the Citizens’ Life Insurance Company.

Auckland.— George Hally Campbell is charged on warrant, issued on the 13th instant, with having deserted his wife, Annie Jeannette, for the space of six months last past. Description: A colonial, a draper’s assistant, about twentysix years of age, about sft. lOin. high, sallow complexion, medium build, broad shoulders, dark-brown hair, small reddish - brown moustache only, an athlete, gentlemanly appearance. He is said to have gone to the Thames District, and may be accompanied by a Mrs. Burns, of whom no description is given.

Feilding.-— Alfred Hannett, charged with wife-desertion, has been arrested at Otaki by Constable J. C. Griffiths, Palmerston North police, and remanded to Feilding.

Christchurch. —John Frew, charged with failing to support his illegitimate child by Martha Murchison : A photograph of this offender is now in the Inspector’s Office, Christchurch.

Invercargill.— Henry Smith is charged on warrant of arrest with disobeying an order of Court to pay 7s. a week towards the maintenance of his illegitimate child by Hannah Matilda Thomson, the sum of £1 lls. being due up to the 6tli instant. Description: A native of New Zealand, a blacksmith and horse-shoer, about twenty-six years of age, sft. 7Jin. high, stout build, darkish complexion, dark eyes, rather broad face, small nose, very small dark moustache and brownish whiskers, but usually shaves the latter; dresses in a very light grey-tweed or blue-serge suit. He is supposed to have left the Bluff by the barquentine “Jasper” for Sydney on the 23rd ultimo, or by the s.s, “ Aorangi ” for London on the 27th.

Invercargill.— Thomas Fox is charged on warrant with disobeying an order of Court to pay £1 per week towards the support of his children. Description: Irish, a labourer, about forty years of age, 6ft. high, sallow complexion, long nose and features, usually clean-shaved except brown moustache, strong erect build; wears a dark sac tweed suit, and soft black-felt hat. He was £6 in arrears on the 6th instant.
