Appointment as Constable. Herbert John Bennett, No. 723.

Regulation No. 91, as to wearing Uniform, to be strictly

adhered to

(Circular No. 16/95.) As it appears a custom has crept into the service of sergeants and constables in country stations very seldom appearing in uniform, the Commissioner calls the attention of all ranks to Regulation No. 91, which will in future be studiously observed. There are, of course, occasions, when members of the Force go on some special duty, in which plain clothes may be necessary, as provided for in the Regulations ; but, as a rule, uniform is to be worn by all ranks, whether on duty in their own township or when visiting different parts of their sub-districts, and any member of the Force disobeying this order in future will render himself liable to punishment. Rewards. Sergeant J. S. Kelly, No. 87, Auckland police, has been awarded £3 for arresting three stragglers from H.M.S. “ Ivatoomba.” (95/933.) Acting-Constable W. Kewish has been awarded £1 for arresting a straggler from H.M.S. “ Katoomba.” (95/933.) Constables J. Mcllveney, No. 697, and T. J. O’Brien, No. 710, Auckland police, have been awarded £1 each for arresting stragglers from H.M.S. “ Katoomba.” (95/933.)
