ATTENTION is drawn to the provisions of “ The Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1882,” for the protection of the natural enemy of the rabbit, and it is hereby notified that the animals mentioned hereunder have been protected as provided for in section 28 of the above-mentioned Act:—

Any person capturing, or selling or disposing of, or killing any animal so declared to be a natural enemy of the rabbit, without a permit, signed by an Inspector, so to do, or in whose possession or on whose premises any such animal shall be found by any Inspector or by any constable, unless such person shall prove that the animal so killed, sold, or in his possession was lawfully in his possession, or that the same was on his premises without his knowledge or consent, shall be liable to a penalty of not less than five nor more than twenty pounds

Amending Begulations under Fisheries Conservation Act.

GLASGOW, Governor. ORDER IN COUNCIL

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-third day of October, 1894.

Present: His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS by “ The Fisheries Conservation Act, 1884 ” (hereinafter termed “ the said Act ”), it is, among other things, enacted that the Governor in Council may from time to time make, alter, and revoke regulations for the purposes therein mentioned, which said regulations shall have force only in any waters or places specified therein: And whereas certain regulations, prescribing, among other things, the minimum weight at which rock-cod may be taken, were made by Order in Council dated the tenth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight, and published in the Neiu Zealand Gazette of the twelfth day of the same month: And whereas it is desirable that the minimum weight at which blue rock-cod may be taken, bought, sold, exposed for sale, or had in possession should be fixed at eight ounces : Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the said Act, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby make the following regulations, and, with the like advice and consent, doth order and declare that these regulations shall have force and effect throughout the Colony of New Zealand, and in all waters in the colony:— Regulations. 1. No person shall take, buy, sell, expose for sale, or have in possession any blue or red cod, or rock-cod (Percis colias or Lotella bacclms) of a less weight than eight ounces. 2. Any person committing a breach of the above regulation shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding fifty pounds, to be recovered as by “ The Fisheries Conservation Act, 1884,” is provided. ALEX. At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-third day of October, 1894. Present: His Excellency the Governor in Council. IN pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by “ The Fisheries Conservation Act, 1884,” His Excellency the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, doth hereby make the following regulations for the County of Inangahua and the waters thereof; and doth hereby declare that these regulations shall, as from the date of the publication theieof in the New Zealand

Gazette, supersede regulations numbers 1 (one) and 2 (two), made by Order in Council dated the fourteenth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-two, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 82, of the fifteenth day of October in the same year.

Regulations. 1. Licenses to fish for trout in all tho waters of the County of Inangahua shall be issued under the hand of the Secretary of the Inangahua Acclimatisation Society (hereinafter termed “ the said society ”), at Reefton, and for every such license a fee of ten shillings will be charged : Provided that it shall not be obligatory upon the Secretary of the said society to issue a license : Provided further that it shall be lawful for the said Secretary to issue licenses for the whole season to ladies for the sum of five shillings each ; and to boys under the age of sixteen years for the sum of seven shillings and sixpence each; and to men, on and after the twentieth day of December in any year, for the sum of seven shillings and sixpence each. 2. Licenses, when issued as aforesaid for the whole season, shall entitle the person named therein to fish for trout in any of the said waters from the first day of October in any one year to the thirty-first day of March in the following year, inclusive; but no such license shall confer any right of entry upon the land of any person without his consent. Varying Limits of Auckland Oyster Fishery. GLASGOW, Governor. WHEREAS it is among other things provided by “ The Oyster Fisheries Act, 1892 ” (hereinafter termed “ the said Act ”), that the Governor may from time to time declare any bay, estuary, or tidal waters in the colony to be an oyster fishery under the said Act, and may part the same into subdivisions by distinguishing marks, and prescribe the subdivisions wherein it shall be lawful and unlawful respectively to take oysters : And whereas by warrant under my hand, dated the seventh day of September, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-

two, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the eighth day of the same month, the Auckland Oyster Fishery was declared and constituted under the provisions of the said Act: And whereas it is desirable to exclude the Island of Kawau and the foreshore thereof from the boundaries of Auckland Oyster Fishery: Now, therefore, I, David, Earl of Glasgow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance of the power and authority conferred by the said Act, and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf, do hereby declare that the Island of Kawau and all bays, estuaries, tidal lands and tidal waters thereof, shall, on and from the date of tho publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, be excluded from the limits or boundaries of the Auckland Oyster Fishery constituted as aforesaid. As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-third day of October, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-four.
