Offences Not Otherwise Described.
Auckland. —Arthur J. Heighton is charged on warrant with having, on the 11th instant, embezzled the sum of 12s. 3d., money of his employer, Arthur J. Hurndell, Auckland Dairy, Hobson Street. Offender is supposed a native of tho colony, about twenty-two years of ago, about sft. Tin. high, medium build, dark complexion, clean shaved except small black moustache, dark hair cut short; dressed in a dark-blue cloth sac coat and vest, grey-tweed trousers, and hard black-felt hat. Ho collected the above amount, but failed to account for it. Other similar charges pending.
Auckland. —P. F. Strathallan McPherson is charged on warrant with having, at Rotorua, about the 29th ultimo, forged and uttered to G. H. Taylor, storekeeper, a cheque for £24 10s., purporting to be signed by John McLean and Sons, railway contractors, but which, on presentation at the Bank of New Zealand, Auckland, has been declared a forgery. Offender is Scotch (accent nob noticeable), well educated, about thirty-five years of age, about sft. lOin. high, blind in one eye, fair complexion, ruddy cheeks, light-brown hair (thin on forehead), clean shaved except large fair moustache, medium build, smart appearance; fond of drink. Ho was employed as clerk and timekeeper to the above-mentioned
firm, and left Auckland by the s.s. “ Alameda ” for San Francisco on the 2nd instant. His wife and family are said to reside in Sydney.
Auckland. —Harry Whitaker Duval is charged on warrant with having, on the 4th instant, obtained from John Gallagher, licensee, British Hotel, the sum of £4 by false pretences. Offender is English, thirty-six years of age, sft. lOfin. high, stout build, fresh complexion, dark - brown hair beard whiskers and moustache, dark eyes, large mouth ; dressed in a blue-serge suit and hard black-felt -hat. Discharged from Auckland Gaol on the 30tli ultimo. (See Police Gazette, 1893, page 196.) He obtained tho amount in exchange for a cheque drawn on tho Bank of Australasia, Auckland, signed “Harry Moore,” but which has been returned marked “ No account.”
Auckland. —Mrs. Thomas Mehan reports that betwoen the 11th and 16th instant a monument in the Egmond Street Cemetery was maliciously knocked down and broken, the amount of damage being estimated at £5.

Ohingaiti. —Richard and Elizabeth Findley, charged on warrants of commitment in default of paying fines and costs: It is reported that during July last these offenders were in business in Sydney, and that their address is known to James Wares, Gouiburn and Pelican Streets, in that city; also to Robert Sutherland, whose address is post-office, Narramine, and who is said to be working on a sheep-station in that district.
Marton. —Michael Burke, alias Bernard Caldwell, alias Patrick Hainey, &c., is charged on warrant issued under section 128 of “The Justices of the Peace Act, 1882.” Description : Irish, a baker, fifty years of age, sft. sin. high, grey hair, blue eyes, long nose, beard whiskers and moustache; dressed in a black-cloth coat and vest, moleskin trousers, and soft felt hat; fond of drink. (See also Police Gazette, 1893, page 145, and 1892, page 82.) He was to have given evidence on the sth instant in the case against William Brighting for horse-stealing, but disappeared on the morning of that date. Is supposed to have gone inland, towards Ohingaiti, Patea, or Moawhanga.

Wellington. Samuel Calvary, charged on warrant of commitment in default of sureties, has been arrested by Constable A. Cruickshank, Lower Hutt Police.

Lyttelton. —Sydney Newland Smith, charged with false pretences on Emma Lodge, has been arrested by Constable C. Moore, Ashburton Police, and remanded to Lyttelton.

Christchurch. Jolm Henry Donovan, charged with false pretences on Adele Peebles, has been arrested by Detective T. Livingston, Timaru Police, and remanded to Christchurch.
Timaru. —Walter Johnston is charged on warrant of commitment to Timaru Gaol for forty-eight hours in default of paying 13s. fine and costs for committing a breach of the peace. Description : A native of New Zealand, twenty-one years of age, sft. 4Jin. high, fresh complexion, brown hair and eyes, small mole on left cheek. (See Police Gazette, 1893, page 131.)
Oamaru. —Archibald John McNeil is charged on warrant with false pretences on James Roxburgh, Tees Street, on the Bth instant. Offender is Scotch, a cook and waiter, twentyone years of age, sft. sJin. high, slightish build, brown hair, small reddish moustache only, sunburnt complexion ; dressed in a dark coat and vest, front collar of coat trimmed with satin, which is now faded, light-coloured tweed trousers, and hard black hat. Photographed at Lyttelton, 24th October last. (See Police Gazette, 1893, page 180.) He obtained a pipe, value 12s. 6d., giving his name as George Thompson, and falsely representing that he was employed by Mr. Searle, cabinetmaker.
