Suva (Fiji). —Frederick Sydney Henry is charged on warrant with embezzling £ll3, money of the Government of Fiji. Description: A native of Chatham, Kent, a clerk, twenty-nine years of age, sft. Bin. high, active build and appearance, weight about lOst. 101 b., dark sallow complexion, black hair inclined to curl, small black moustache, lower jaw protrudes, lips rather thick, cross tattooed on right arm, and star in wreath and cross pistols on left forearm, well educated, much addicted to drink, and frequents the society of women ; wore a dirty-looking blue-serge suit, and straw hat with blue-and-gold band. Ho arrived at Auckland on the 9th ultimo, and it is thought may have gone on to Sydney by the s.s. “Manapouri” two days later. When leaving Fiji he was accompanied by one Harry Scott, against whom there is no charge. The latter is well known in New Zealand, and is brother of Guillam Scott, manager of the Bank of New Zealand at Tauranga. Offender can be identified by Mr. James Callaghan, who is now in Auckland, superintending the building of a vessel for the Fiji Government. Warrant, depositions, and photograph taken five years ago, at Commissioner’s Office. (93/798.)

Sydney. —S. Neumann is charged on warrant with having, at Sydney, during October, 1892, and January last, conspired with J. IT. Ballin and cheated and defrauded Robort Hugo Scholz of large sums of money. Offender is a Hungarian,

forty-five years of age, sft. 3in. high, florid complexion, long brown moustache, broad shoulders, speaks French and German fluently, Polish imperfectly. Sells foreign premium bonds on time-payment, principally to foreigners. He is said to have been seen in Wellington on the 20th April last, and may go with his wife to Fiji. (93/723.)

Auckland. —Charles Kcrnot is charged on warrant with having deserted his apprenticeship to Thomas Hoskins, bootmaker, Chancery Street, since the Ist April last. He is seventeen years of age, short and stout, dark hair and complexion, right thumb has been split.

Auckland. —John N. Livesey is charged on warrant with having, on the 6tli instant, embezzled the sum of £l, money of William John Geddis and another, by whom he was employed as canvasser for the Observer newspaper. Offender is English, a commission agent, thirty-three years of age, sft. 9|m. high, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, dark-blue eyes, large Roman nose, large mouth, clean-shaved except dark moustache, which is turning grey, medium build, moles on each arm, and one on left cheek. (See Police Gazette, 1893, page 43.) Auckland.— Andrew Agnew, for vagrancy, has been arrested by Constable G. Wilson, Wellington Police, and sent to the Terrace Gaol, to which prison the warrant of commitment was altered.

Aratapu. —Patrick Murphy, for being drunk and disorderly, &c., has been arrested on discharge from Auckland Gaol, and sentenced to fourteen days’ labour.

Whakatane. —Kararaina (Caroline) Tamihana is charged on warrant with having, on the 6th March last, at Ruatoki, wilfully obstructed Oliver Mason Creagh, an authorised surveyor. She is about forty years of age, stout build, sft. 7in. high, hair inclined to be sandy, tattooed on chin ; wife of Te Amo, and is living at Ruatoki. The warrant is only to be executed on the European side of the confiscation line.

Ohingaiti. —Richard and Elizabeth Findley, charged on warrants of commitment for. sly grog-selling: It has been ascertained that these offenders left Wellington on the 14th April last, per s.s. “ Hauroto,” for Sydney.

Palmerston North. Andrew Thompson, alias Kirk, charged with having assaulted and robbed David Golding, has been arrested by Constable F. Y. Watty, and remanded.

Palmerston North. — Three men, names unknown, are charged on warrant with having, on the sth instant, assaulted and robbed Harry Doreene of four £1 notes. Description : First, about twenty-five years of age, about sft. 6in. high, medium build, fair complexion, clean-shaved except heavy fair moustache ; dressed in a grey-tweed sac-suit and hard black-felt hat. Can be identified. Second, twenty-five to thirty years of age, about sft. lOin. high, medium build, dark complexion, dark moustache only. Third, twenty-five to thirty years of age, about sft. lOin. high, medium build, clean-shaved. The two last-described wore dark overcoats with capes, and hard black-felt hats.

Wellington.— McConchie is charged on warrant with having, on the 3rd instant, forged and uttered to Harry Pritchard, grocer, Taranaki Street, a cheque for £4 95., purporting to be drawn by William Hawkins on the Bank of New Zealand. Description: Irish, a labourer, thirty-five years of age, sft. lOin. high, dark hair, clean-shaved except dark moustache; wore a grey-tweed suit and hat. He represented that Hawkins was a flax-miller at Masterton, but it has been ascertained that there is no such person. Offender came from Kaikoura on the Ist instant, accompanied by an old man known as Paddy, and they were both seen at Martinborough on the Bth.

Gisborne.— Percival Barker, sheep-farmer, Whataupoko» reports that between the 17th and 29th ultimo two valuable dogs were maliciously poisoned, from the effects of which one of them died.

Nelson. —Thomas Andrew Ernest Scully is charged on warrant with having, on the 12th December last, embezzled the sum of £2O, money of the New Zealand Government. Description: A native of the colony, a clerk, about twentyfive years of age, sft. Gin. high, stout build, dark complexion, full round face, dark eyes, black hair, dark moustache only; dressed, when last seen, in a dark-tweed suit and hard blackfelt hat; may now be wearing grey-striped trousers. While employed in the Customs Department he received the above amount and appropriated it to his own use.

Dunedln. —William Wakefield is charged on warrant with having, on the 13th ultimo, obtained by a false pretence from William Absalom Smith, tailor, a suit of clothes and an overcoat, value £7 10s. Offender is about thirty-two years of age, sft. 4in. high, stout build, fair hair, very slight fair moustache, no whisker, about 10 stone weight, accustomed to horses ; wore a dark-tweed sac-suit, and hard black hat with curled rim. Supposed to have made for Timaru or Christchurch, and is well known in the latter district.
