Pahiatua. —Charles Hall is charged on warrant with the larceny as a bailee, on the 13th instant, of £7 13s. 4d., money of Herrpan Ellmers. Offender is a native of the colony, about twenty-three years of age, about sft. 7in. high, slight build, delicate appearance, dark freckled complexion, dark hair, small sideboard whiskers and moustache; dressed in brown-tweed suit and tweed cap. He obtained the amount from Job Vile, as wages due to complainant, with whom he was employed at bush-felling. Supposed to have gone in the direction of Woodville.
Pahiatua. —James Young Westwood is charged on warrant with the larceny, on the sth instant, of £2OO. Description : A native of the colony, about thirty-five years of age, abouL sft. 9in. high, medium build, dark sunburnt complexion© light-brown hair whiskers and moustache, shaved on chm(/ > hair inclined to bo curly, rather long neck, lump in throaL very noticeable, bald patch about the size of right side of head; was dressed in light-coloured- ; and dark trousers, but will most likely be wearing a newfsuiLy Offender was partner with John Hambridge Ford in a bush fls felling contract, and drew the amount on representing thjpfaAhe was acting with his (Ford’s) consent. He cashed Ime cheque at the Bank of Australasia, Masterton, and is /upposed to have gone to Wellington. Will probably try to leave the colony.
Auckland. —Michael Heath is charged on warrant of commitment for forty-eight hours’ imprisonment in Auckland Gaol, in default of paying 11s., balance of fine and costs, for a breach of the city by-laws. He is about sft. 9in. high, medium build, fair hair, none on face, fresh complexion, a native of the colony. He left Auckland about the middle of August last as a groom to Wirth’s circus, but has since left their service.
Lincoln (Canterbury). —Eliza Roleston, sixteen years of age, housekeeping for her father at Gould’s Road, Burnham, reports that, about 4 p.m. on the 15th instant, a swagger
called at the place and indecently assaulted her, and on the 19th he again called, broke in the door, and attempted to repeat the offence, upon which the complainant cut him about the head with a knife. Offender is described as from forty-five to fifty years of age, sft. 9in. or lOin. high, medium build, sandy complexion, beard whiskers and moustache cut short and turning grey, several upper front teeth out; wore dirty ragged-moleskin trousers, light-grey coat, and soft black-felt hat. He was seen about the place on the 17th by complainant’s younger brother. No warrant.
/ (See Police Gazette, 1892, page 201.) Christchurch. James Kedge, alias O’Hearn, alias Cockney Jim, for default of fine, has been arrested by Constable Andrew Morgan, Methven Police. Amount paid.
