Takaka (Nelson). —Henry Abbott reports stolen, about the Ist September last, a white heifer, between two and three years old, branded HA on rump ; value £5.

Takaka (Nelson).— George Page reports stolen, about the Ist September last, a three-year-old heifer, branded with a heart on left rump, covered with small brown, white, and black spots, which give it a very remarkable appearance ; value £5.

Winton. —John Hamilton, Forest Hill, reports stolen from his paddock, atLochiel, between the Ist ultimo and the 10th instant, forty hoggets, in full fleece, marked HI in black paint on back, top cut off near ear, and punch-hole in off ear ; value 12s. each.

Lower Hutt (Wellington). —William Donald, drover, Featherston, reports stolen from the Taita Hotel stables, Lower Hutt, on the 17th instant, a chestnut gelding, aged, about 16£ hands high, good condition and appearance, a bad walker, near hock enlarged, a few white hairs down forehead, branded like Son near shoulder; and an old bridle, buckles horse shoe pattern, except the one at throat-strap, which is square, near cheek-strap repaired close to the brow-band ; value £l2 ss.

Otaki. Hoani Taipua, M.H.R., reports stolen from a paddock, on the 20th or 21st instant, a bay mare, half draught, four years old, about fifteen hands high, black points, white star on forehead, shod all round ; value £lO. Suspicion attached to James Catt, who borrowed a saddle from William Bell on the 17th, and left the district (supposed for Wellington) about the above-mentioned time. Description : A native of Porirua, a labourer and carter, about twenty-two years of age, about sft. Gin. high, medium build, florid freckled complexion, red hair, and small moustache only, blue or grey eyes; dressed in dark-tweed clothes (saccoat), and had black-felt hat. Was employed at the Newtown soapworks for about two years.
