John Duckett is inquired for by the Port Chalmers Police, with a view of compelling him to contribute towards the support of his child in the Gaversham Industrial School. Description : English, a fisherman and labourer, fifty-two years of age, sft. 7in. high, medium build, sallow complexion, dark hair beard whiskers and moustache all turning grey, fond of drink. He was at Maheno last harvest, and on leaving said he intended going to Moeraki or Purakanui Bay. An order was made on the 19th March, 1891, for payment of 6s. a week, and on the 18th ultimo he was £l9 4s. in arrears.

Donald Craig is inquired for through the Milton Police. Description: Scotch, a general labourer, about fifty years of age, sft. 6in. or 7in. high, stout build, round shoulders, leans forward when walking, fresh complexion, dark hair, full brown beard, rather long, bald on top of head. He left Dunedin in the s.s. “ Waihora ” about four weeks ago, supposed for Wellington, in company with a William Campion, thirtyfive years of age, fair complexion, moustache only. Inquiry is made with the view to taking proceedings against him for the maintenance of his three children, who are at present with Mr. Donald McKcwen, and totally unprovided for.

John Wells left Betchworth, Surrey, for Auckland, in September, 1875, and, after staying there twelvemonths, went into the bush. If living, will be thirty-seven years of age. 7No further particulars. Inquiry is made by his father, James Wells, 2, Hortham Road, Dorking, Surrey, through His Excellency the Governor. (92/1101.) James Dooley is inquired for by the Huntly Police, with a 1/ view of compelling him to contribute towards the support of \ his wife and child at Rangiriri, Waikato. Description: A Born in Cape Colony, but came to New Zealand when an j infant, a farm-labourer, twenty-nine years of age, sft. 9in. high, medium build, fair hair, sandy moustache only. His \ mother lives at Waipipi, near Pukekohe. He was heard of "'at Auckland about the 21st May last, and it is thought has gone to Sydney.

Thomas Charters (may assume some other name) is inquired for by the police at Christchurch, in order to compel him to support his illegitimate child. Description: Scotch (strong accent), a barman and bush-feller, thirty-two years of age, sft. 7in. high, smart, rather dark complexion and hair, clean-shaved except moustache when seen at Christchurch about last Christmas, ruptured on left side; single. (See also Police Gazette, 1891, page 99.) He was barman at Patten’s Hotel, Methven, is known to a Mrs. Tillyforth, a boardinghouse-keeper at or near Masterton, and has been at the latter town with John Quinn, a young man from Methven. Photograph can be sent for identification, if required.

Thomas Cleghorn, also known as Thomas Cook, is inquired for at the request of his wife, through the Hampden (Oamaru) Police. Description: English, a saddler, about forty-five years of age, sft. 6in. or 7in. high, fresh complexion, medium build, fair or reddish hair beard whiskers and moustache, rapid speech. Last heard of about three months ago at Blackhead Station, Hawke’s Bay. On the sth February, 1889, he was sentenced to fourteen days’ labour for disobeying an order to pay 15s. a week towards the maintenance of his wife and family (see Police Gazette, 18S9, page 53), and since then has only made one payment of 15s.
