Deserting Wives and Families, &c.

Maketu. —William Henry McCauley is charged, on warrant issued by the Tauranga Bench, with having deserted bis wife, Eliza, at Te Puke, since the 13th January last. Description : Irish, a bullock-driver, about forty years of age, sft. Tin. high, stout build, very red complexion, small greyish eyes, full sandy beard and moustache, slovenly gait and appearance. Supposed to have gone to Christchurch or Melbourne.

Paeroa. Paul McKenzie is charged on warrant with having deserted his wife, Sarah Ann, and six children, at Paeroa, since the 29th December last. Description: An American, a carpenter, thirty-eight years of age, about sft. lOin. high, medium build, very dark complexion, black hair beard and moustache, skin-disease very noticeable on face and arms; dressed, when last seen, in dirty whitecalico trousers, check-plaid coat, and dark-tweed hat. He left by boat for Auckland on the above date, and may go to Napier.

Auckland— -&yiney James is charged on warrant with disobeying an order of the /Court for the maintenance of his wife apd children sinceo.the 26th November last. Description-; abo»tj( r thtrty-eight years of ago, sft. Tin. or Bin. high/ coinplexibn, light hair turning grey, light moustachojonly, bj Aiff eyas, very prominent nose, slight build ; composer of, ana s'ells, tlio ‘CMuin Waltz.” (Sec Police Gazette, IS9I, pages ,197 and 204.) Offender was employed by Hoffmann and Sons, Wellington, and left there about the above date, with thejntention of proceeding to the West Coast, via, Blenheim and Nelson.
