Third-class Sergeant Joseph Swinbourne Kelly, No. 87, is promoted to second-class sergeant, with effect from the 16th ultimo, for his gallant, cool, and plucky conduct in, without hesitation, jumping into the Auckland Harbour and saving Mr. John Abbott from drowning. (91/1928.)

Agricultural Statistics. Constable M. O’Brien, Middlemarch Police, has been awarded £2 2s. by the Otago Acclimatisation Society, in recognition of his services in securing three convictions for poaching wild ducks. (92/12.) Constables E. Mackay and A. F. Gordon, Auckland Police, have been awarded £6 and £5 respectively, for arresting deserters from the Russian war-ship “ Djigit.” (92/21.) Constables P. McCormack and G. Fitzgerald, Lyttelton Police, have been awarded £3 each for arresting two stragglers from 11.M.5. “ Ringarooma.” (92/34.) Sergeant J. Slattery, and Constables W. J. Phair and R. Kelly, Nelson Police, have been awarded £1 each in recognition of their services in the detection of Amelia J. Gillingham, fined £lO and costs for sly grog-selling. (91/1920.) Constable C. Bleasel, Lyttelton Police, has been awarded £1 for arrest of a straggler from H.M.S. “Ringarooma.” (92/51.) Sergeant J. S. Kelly and Constable L. McDonnell, Auckland Police, have been awarded £2 each for arresting stragglers from H.M.S. “ Tauranga.” (92/39.) Sergeant J. Donovan, Auckland Police, has been awarded £8 for arresting Ah Pil, a deserter from H.M.S. “ Cordelia.” (91/1593.) Constable D. Gordon, Whangarei Police, has been awarded £8 for the arrest of W. Madden, a deserter from H.M.S. “
