Rewards. The sum of £1 has been awarded to Constable E. Mackay, Auckland Police, for arresting an absentee-seaman belonging to the schooner “ Prosperity.” (91/1124.) The sum of £1 has been awarded to Constable E. P. Bird, Hawksbury Police, by G. E. F. Schultzc, for stopping a runaway pair of ponies, with buggy attached, at considerable personal risk. (91/1192.) The sum of £B, awarded for arresting a deserter from Her Majesty’s ship “Curacoa,” has been divided as follows: Constable T. Bourlce, Kaiapoi, £3 10s.; Sergeant J. O’Malley and Constable T. Breen, Lyttelton, £2 ss. each. (91/1040.) Constables G. H. Harris and G. Winduss, Wellington Police, have been awarded £2 each, and special entries in their merit-sheets, for services in the conviction of James Day, of Asliurst, fined £2O and costs for sly grog-selling. (91/1133.)
The sum of £2 has been awarded by the Marine Department to Constable A. McGilp, Russell Police, re conviction of Morrin and Co., of Auckland, fined £5 and costs for shipping gunpowder without having the package distinctly marked. (M. 1608/91.)
The sum of £1 has been awarded to Constable T. J. McCormack, Lyttelton Police, for putting seamen on board the ship “ Hinemoa.” (91/1169.)
