Offences Not Otherwise Described.
A man, name unknown, but who can be identified, is charged with having, at about noon on the 18th ultimo, at the Racecourse, Reefton, indecently assaulted Effie Reynolds, six or seven years of age. Description : About twentyfive years of age, sft. Bin. or lOin. high, light-coloured moustache only, slight build, a large pimple or abscess on one cheek, and another on forehead; wore light-striped tweed clothes and footballer’s cap. Was followed by a black-and-white smooth-haired dog.
A man known as “ Ted ” is charged, on warrant issued at Ilerbertville, with having, on the 26th ultimo, at Tautane Station, assaulted Hugh Browne, cook. Description: Supposed Irish, a swagger, recently arrived from Dunedin, twenty-five to thirty years of age, about 6ft. high, dark complexion, moustache only, smart active appearance ; dressed in dark clothes. Offender called at the station at 6.30 p.m. on above date, and demanded supper for three swaggers, which was refused; he thereupon struck complainant a heavy blow in the left eye, knocking him down, and went away in the direction, it is supposed, of Waipukurau.
