Deserting Wives and Families, &c.
David Patterson is charged, on warrant issued by the Auckland Bench, with deserting his wife, at Auckland, on the 30tli May last. Description : A native of the North of Ireland, an ex-gaol-warder, about fifty-five years of age, about sft. 9in. high, very stout build, ruddy complexion, grey hair, clean-shaved except grey moustache. He left Auckland on the 30th May last by the steamer “ Wanaka ” for Wellington, and it is believed thence to London on the 12th ultimo by the steamer “ Aorangi,” under an assumed name.

Jeremiah Finneety, charged on warrant with disobeying an order of Court to pay £1 per week towards the support of his wife and children, has been arrested by Constable Anthony Isemonger, Palmerston North Police, and remanded to Wellington.
Joseph Vincent is charged on warrant of commitment to the Invercargill Gaol for two months’labour, issued by the Waimate Bench, in default of paying the amount due for the support of his three children in the Burnham Industrial School. Description : A Cornishman, a labourer and rabbiter, thirty-three years of age, sft. sin. high, rather stout
build, fair hair and complexion, generally clean-shaved except fair moustache, blue eyes, large nose, scar on thumb and on palm of right hand; fond of drink. He was £27 7s. 6d. in arrears on the sth April last. He is supposed to be in the Southland District. (See Police Gazette , 1889, page 92.)
