Horse- and Cattle-Stealing.

James Spencer, alias George White, alias Clifford, alias Ross, charged on warrant with the larceny as a bailee of a horse, saddle, and bridle, at Timaru, the property of John Shaw, has been arrested by Detective Robert Neill and Constable Walter H. Haddrell, Christchurch and Malvern Police, remanded to Timaru, and committed for trial.

The three working-bullocks, the property of Stephen Martin, reported stolen from Te Pu, have been recovered ; they were not stolen.

Suspicion attached to Thomas Kane, Irish, came to the colony when a child, a labourer, about nineteen years of age, sft. Sin. high, medium build, fresh complexion, blue eyes, light-brown hair, no hair on face; dressed in grey-tweed suit, light-coloured soft-felt hat, and blucher-boots. His parents live in Ashburton.

Supposed stolen about the 15th May last, from Nenthorn, a dark-brown mare, hack-breed, five years old, about 14J hands high, large blaze down face, branded J on near shoulder ; the property of John Kennelly ; value £l2. Identifiable.
