Rewards

The sum of £1 4s. each has been awarded by the Customs Department to Constables Michael McAllen and Patrick Nolan, and the sum of 16s. to Constable Alfred E. Remer, Clyde and Pembroke Police, in recognition of their services in connection with prosecutions for breaches of “ The Beer Duty Act, 1880.”

Tiie sum of 10s. has been awarded to Constable James D. Lecce, Mataura Police, by Mr. William Sutherlands, of Woodlands, in recognition of his services in connection with the recovery of a dog. Erratum. In Gazette of the 18th ultimo, page 119, return of prisoners discharged from Auckland Gaol, for “ George Parfuo ” read “ George Payne.”

With reference to the regualtions published in Police Gazette of the Bth May, 1889, pages 88 and 89, it is now notified, for general information, that it shall in future be optional with candidates whether they, in the first place, present themselves for the junior or senior examinations.
