About 4 a.m. on the 2Gtli ultimo, at Kaiwaiwai, near Featherston, an old shed, of little value, the property of William Bicknoll, was maliciously destroyed by fire, as was also a stack of hay, value £3O, the property of James Belcher. The property was not insured.

Beeween 5 pan. on the Ist and G a.m. on the 2nd ultimo a bridge at Maungakaramea, Bay of Islands District, the property of George Kerr, was maliciously set on fire and damaged to the extent of about £7.

About 6.30 pan. on the 24th ultimo, at Waralioe, Thames, a cow-shed, a shay-shed, a fowlhouse, a chaff-cutter, and about 4 tons of hay, the property of Naoma and Herbert Cooper, value £IOO, were destroyed by fire. At an inquest held on the 28th ultimo as to the cause of the origin of the fire the following verdict was returned : “That the cow-shed and contents were wilfully set on fire by some person or persons unknown, but there is no evidence to show by whom.”

Between 9 pan. on the 14th and 6 a.m. on the 15th ultimo, at Kahutara Road, Featherston, a threshing-machine, value £3OO, the property of Thomas George Bean and Hugh McPhee, was maliciously destroyed by fire. It was insured in the New Zealand Office for £2OO.
