A man, name unknown, is charged, on warrant issued by the Timaru Bench, with the larceny as a bailee, on the 11th ultimo, at Timaru, of a chestnut hack-gelding, 15 hands high, about seven years old, supposed branded L on one shoulder, hog mane, and long tail, known by the name of “ Red Robin,” and has been raced by Hobbs Brothers and Coulter at Timaru, Ashburton, Christchurch, and Dunedin, value £ls; an English-made saddle, about half-worn, “ Clissold ” branded on flap, value £4 ; a double-rein bridle, value £1 55.; and a brown-mixture waterproof coat, value £1; the property of John Shaw. Description: Supposed English, about twenty-three years of age, sft. 7in. high, medium build, sallow complexion, lightbrown hair side whiskers and moustache ; dressed in darktweed suit and hard black-felt hat; smart active appearance. He sold the horse at Christchurch on the 20th ultimo, and when giving a receipt for the purchase-money signed his name James Spencer,
