Missing Friends.
Information is requested respecting Daniel Hannigan, supposed a native of Ireland, a labourer, about thirty-eight or forty years of age, sft. 6in. or 7in. high, medium build, dark complexion, dark hair, full dark beard whiskers and moustache, slovenly gait; addicted to drink. He was heard of at Te Kuiti in August or September last, and then spoke of going to the gumfields north of Auckland. He is inquired for with a view of compelling him to contribute towards the support of his three children in St. Mary’s Industrial School, Auckland. He was £79 10s. in arrears on the 26th February last. If found an effort should be made to obtain a portion of the money due from him.
(See Police Gazette, 1889, page 77.) Walter White has been found. He is at present in the employment of Richard Smithson, farmer, ITyde.
Information is requested respecting Janet Tucker, nee
Gibson, a native of Scotland, a milliner and dressmaker, thirty-four years of age, about sft. 4in. high, rather dark complexion, dark-brown hair ; generally wears dark-brownish dress. She left Dunedin on the 26tli October, 1887, by the steamer “ Wakatipu,” under the name of Lindsay, for Sydney, and thence to Melbourne on the 22nd December following. It is said she was seen in Wellington about July last. She has a girl and a boy, aged eight and six years respectively, with fresh complexions and rather dark-reddish hair, with her. James Gibson, coal merchant, Dunedin, is her brother. She is inquired for at the instance of her husband.
Information is requested respecting James McLean, a native of Green Island, thirteen years of age, about 4ft. Sin. high, stout build, broad full face, large blue eyes, slightly freckled, fair hair cut short; wore dark-tweed suit and tweed hat. He left his home at Green Island, on the morning of the Bth ultimo, in company with a boy named William Thompson, and was seen on the same night at Kaitangata, supposed going towards Beaumont Station. He is inquired for at the instance of his father, who will pay any expenses incurred in conveying him home.
Information is requested respecting Walter John Branson, a native of Hanslope, County of Bucks, a plasterer, thirty-three years of age, about sft. BJin. high, fair complexion, blue eyes, brown hair and moustache. He left London about the 26th March, 1885, by the steamer “ Arawa ” for Hobart, but it is thought he did not land there, but came on by the steamer to this colony.
Information is requested respecting Heinrich Christof Gericke, a native of Denmark, who was some years ago a resident of Lyttelton, but is now believed to be somewhere in the North Island. It is said he is married and has a family, and that he joined the Salvation Army. He paid a visit to Denmark some years ago. His father having died recently, this man, with other members of his family, is entitled to some property, but unless his application is received withtn a certain period (say, about the end of July next) he will forfeit his share. Letters addressed to him are in the possession of Mr. C. Julius Toxward, Danish Consul, Wellington, at whose instance he is inquired for.
