Stolen between 5 p.m. on the 19tli and 8.30 a.m. on the 23rd ultimo, from a new building in Adelaide Road, Wellington, a claw hammer, “ F. J. Coombe ” on handle and iron, value 4s. 6d. ; a pair of shears, 4in. long, “F. J. Coombe ” on iron and handle, value 4s. Gd ; two bevels, one Bin. and the other 6in. long, value 2s. 6d. each ; an Sin. compass, value 25., all new; a short-handled shovel and a trowel, value 65.; the property of John Coombe. Identifiable.

Stolen about the 22nd ultimo, from the forecastle of the ship “ Lady Jocelyn,” at the Queen’s Wharf, Wellington, a new grey Crimean shirt, the property of Charles Lawson, value 6s. Gd. ; a faded red-silk handkerchief, the property of James Hughes, value 2s. Gd.; and a hair-brush and comb, a small mirror set in the back of the brush, the property of Arthur Parks, value 3s. Identifiable.

Stolen between 2.30 a.m. on the 15th and 5 p.m. on the 17th ultimo, at Northcote, near Auckland, a pair of white double blankets with yellow stains and spots of grease thereon, a red stripe round edges, value £1155.; a white-silk handkerchief with blue border, marked FW worked in blue silk ; a shob-coloured-silk handkerchief with a representation of ladies playing lawn tennis, &c., thereon ; a white-silk handkerchief with large yellow flowers thereon, and a plain red-silk handkerchief; value £1 10s. ; the property of Trodsham Watkinson. Identifiable.

Stolen between the 18th and 23rd September last, on board the steamer “ Te Anau,” between Dunedin and Auckland, a gold open-face Geneva watch, no maker’s name, number not known ; the property of James Ramsay ; value £5. Identifiable. The steamer called at Lyttelton, Wellington, Napier, and Gisborne, and may have been stolen at either of those places.

Stolen on the 9th or 10th ultimo, from on board the brigantine “ Magellan Cloud,” at Auckland, a hand-saw,

about 3ft. long, “ W. Lowe” marked on handle; the property of William Lowe ; value 9s. Gd. Identifiable.

Stolen between 4 p.m. on the Bth and 4 p.m. on the 10th ultimo, from the railway goods-shed, Riversdale, Southland, a small case marked MR in black ink and “ Warner’s safe cure ” with a fire-brand, containing twelve bottles of Warner’s safe cure; the property of the Government; value £2 10s. Suspicion attached to Frank Mclvor, who removed goods from the shed on the 9tli ultimo. Description : Supposed Scotch, a labourer and miner, twenty years of age, about sft. Gin. or 7in. high, medium build, fair complexion, inclined to be freckled, light-brown hair, and small fair moustache. He lives at Waikaia.

Stolen on the 24th ultimo, at the Queen’s Wharf, Wellington, an old black-cloth sac-coat of inferior quality; the property of John McCarthy; value 12s. Identifiable.

Stolen on the 18th or 19th ultimo, from the gold-mining claim of John McCallum and Richard Clark, Deep Creek, near Cockabulla Creek, Westland, a quantity of sand and gravel supposed to contain between 20oz. and 250 z. of gold. Chinese suspected.

Stolen on the 14th or 15th ultimo, from the premises of Marion Shepherd, Tweed Street, Invercargill, a yellow rooster, five dark-coloured hens, and three nearly-white hens, mixture of Spanish aud Dorking breed; value £1 2s. Gd. Identification doubtful.

Stolen on the 17th ultimo, from a cabin of the steamer “ Rotorua,” at Greymouth, a black-sealskin handbag containing a purse, 15s. in silver, a gold ring set with a pearl and two rubies, “ JC from Mother, 1888,” inscribed thereon, a small note-book, and two wliite-cotton handkerchiefs; the property of Jane Clough ; value £2 10s. Identifiable, except money.

Stolen on the sth or 6th ultimo, from the gold-mining claim of John Hart, at Ross, about 30dwt. of gold; value about £4.

Stolen on the 24th or 25th ultimo, from the clothes-line of Jacob Levien, Church Street, Timaru, two white-flannel petticoats with unbleached calico waistbands, and a pair of flannel drawers trimmed at bottom with pink braid, well worn ; value 7s. 6d. Identifiable.

Stolen about the 21st ultimo, from the premises of John Ballantyne and Co., Timaru, 7 yards of light summer Kaiapoi tweed ; value 19s. Gd. Identifiable.

Stolen about the 12th September last, on board the steamer “ Arawa,” between England and New Zealand, a gold scarf-pin, crescent-pattern, set with eight pearls, a star in concave ; the property of A. H. Rogers ; value about £4. Identifiable.

Stolen on the 22nd ultimo, from the Odd Fellows’ Hall, Christchurch, a ladies’ dark-leather handbag, 15in. by 4in., two compartments, value 10s.; a ladies’ black-satin cloth umbrella, wooden stick with a black-bone handle screwed into it; and a child’s crochet undershirt made of white-and-salmon-coloured pmk wool, value 145.; the property of the Rev. Gordon Webster. Identifiable.

Stolen about the 17th September last, from Heuton and Co.’s flour-mill, Otepopo River, Oamaru District, a grub-hoe which cuts with both ends ; the property of James Hutton ; value 9s. Identifiable.

Stolen about the 28th ultimo, from Russell Terrace, Newtown, Wellington, three totava posts, and some 3 by 2 and 4 by 1 sawn-totara timber in lengths of from 10ft. to 18ft.; the property of William B. Whale ; value 10s.

Stolen on the 20th or 21st ultimo, at Hawkesbury, a low tliick-set black-and-tan collie-dog, about six years old, smooth hair, answers to the name “ Tweed;” the property of

Peter Duncan ; value £5. Identifiable. Suspicion attached to Thomas Leonard, supposed a native of the colony, Irish parentage, a painter, about twenty-six years of age, sft. lOin. high, medium build, dark complexion, dark hair beard whiskers and moustache, patches of grey hair all over head; generally wears light-tweed suit and liat. He is supposed to have gone to the goldfields, and may dispose of the dog at a sheep-station.

Stolen about the 23rd ultimo, from the stable of George W. Lawry, Manukau Road, Newmarket, a colonial made lrogskin saddle, lined with white flannel or serge, ring torn off pommel, only one strap for girth at one side, old stirrupleathers, a joining in centre of one, oval stirrup-irons, valuo £4; a snaffle-bridle with two reins and old blue forehead band ; and a single-rein snaffle-bridle with plain rusty-steel bit, value ss. Saddle identifiable.
