Extracts from Victoria Police Gazette.

(From Gazette , 1887, page 3GO, 1888, pages 222 and 265.) . Inquiry is requested for Edmund William Speck, late a lieutenant in the Royal navy, and now on half-pay. Said to have been living in Melbourne for the past eighteen months, but all efforts to trace him here have failed. His brother, Jocelyn H. Speck, is very anxious to hear of him whether living or dead. He writes from 32, Westbourno Park, \V., London.—o. 9334, 16th December, 1887. Edmund William Speck. Missing friend. Renewed efforts are requested regarding this man, to whom the British Admiralty have sent a letter, which is now in the office of the Superintendent of Police, Melbourne.—o. 9534 17th July, 1888. Edmund William Speck, a missing friend, late a lieutenant in the Royal navy, and now on half-pay.—lt is not improbable that Lieutenant Speck’s recent movements may be known to the Defence Departments of some of the Australian Colonies. The letter for him from the British Admiralty is yet in the hands of the Police Department, Melbourne, owing to his not being traced. It is very desirable that lie should bo found, and inquiries at the Defence Departments in the Australian Colonies is therefore earnestly requested.—o . 9534, 25th August, 188 S.

By Authority: George Dedsbuby, Government Printer, Wellington.—lßßs.
