Rewards.

The sums of £2 and £1 respectively have been awarded by the Auckland Acclimatisation Society to Constables John Haddock and Charles Hogg, Warkworth and Kamo Police, in recognition of their services in connection with the prosecution of persons convicted for breaches of “ The Animals Protection Act, 1880.”

Constable David Cartmill, Kaiapoi Police, has been presented with a silver medal by the St. Andrew’s Caledonian Society, Kaiapoi, in recognition of his prompt and gallant conduct in saving, at the risk of his own life, Thomas Barden, aged six years, from being drowned in the Wairnakariri River on the 14th November last.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this ninth day of May, 1887. Present: His Excellency the Governor in Council.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred by “ The Salmon and Trout Act, 1867,” “ The Salmon and Trout Act 1867 Amendment Act, 1884,” and “ The Fisheries Conservation Act, 1884,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, do hereby make the following regulation Regulation. The regulations prescribing conditions for netting in that part of the Provincial District of Canterbury to the north of the Rangitata River, and in the waters thereof, which were made by Order in Council bearing date the fourteenth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the sixteenth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six, shall not apply to that portion of the River Wairnakariri east of a straight line drawn at right angles to the course of the said river, and across the said river from the eastern comer of Rural Section No. 1393 in the Mandeville Survey District, the said corner of Rural Section No. 1393 being two miles or thereabouts in an easterly direction from the main bridge over the River Wairnakariri, in the Town of Kaiapoi. All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Taranaki, containing by admeasurement 11 acres 3 roods 35 perches, more or less, being Section No. 1 of the Town Belt of Pukearuhe Township. Bounded towards the North and East by high-water mark; towards the South-east by the Waikaramarama Stream and by Gilbert Road, 577'4 links ; towards the South-west by Page Terrace, 1187'5 links ; and towards the North-east by Section No. 2, 340 links : be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. All that parcel of land in the Township of Manaia, Provincial District of Taranaki, containing by admeasurement 3 roods, more or less, being Sections Nos. 9, 11, and 20, Block XIV. Bounded towards the North by Terou Street; towards the East by Section No. 10; again towards the North by said Section No. 10; again towards the East by Tauhuri Street; towards the South by Section No. 21; again towards the East by Section No. 22; again towards the South by North Road ; and towards the West by Sections Nos. 19 and 8, said Block XIV.: as the same is delineated on the map in the Survey Office, New Plymouth. Wellington. All that parcel of land in the Provincial District of Wellington, containing by admeasurement 1 acre, being Allotment No. 126 on the map of the Township of Waverley. Bounded towards the North by Brassey Street, 251 links; towards the East by a road, 400 links ; towards the South by Allotment No. 144, 251 links ; and towards the West by Allotment No. 125, 400 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me in that behalf by “ The Licensing Act Amendment Act, 1882,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint William Everett, Esquire, Chairman of the Licensing Committee of the District of Masterton, to exercise, in terms of section fifteen of the said Act, a special authority in the granting of publicans’ licenses within the district the limits of which are defined in the Schedule hereto. SCHEDULE. All that piece or parcel of land situate in Railway Reserve, Block XIV., Mangaone Survey District, Provincial District of Wellington, commencing at a point 81 miles 45 chains on the Wellington-Napier Railway. Bounded Northerly by a line, 250 links ; Westerly by a line, 2200 links ; Southerly by a line, 350 links; Easterly by a line, 2200 links ; and Northerly by a line, 100 links, to the commencing-point: as the same is delineated on a plan marked P.W.D. 14395, deposited in the office of the Minister for Public Works, and thereon coloured red. As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this seventeenth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-seven. Jos. A. TOLE.

Constable Arthur Hobbins Wright to be an Inspector of Weights and Measures, under “ The Weights and Measures Act, 1878,” for the Counties of Southland, Wallace, Fiord, and Stewart Island, and for all boroughs therein. P. A. BUCKLEY.
