Deserting Wives and Families, &c.
Henry Thomas Sewell is charged, on warrant issued by the Masterton Bench, with deserting his wife and seven children, at Masterton, since the 20th ultimo. Description : English, a labourer, about thirty-three years of age, sft. 7in. or Bin. high, stout build, dark complexion, dark curly hair, dark beard whiskers and moustache tinged with grey; wore working clothes.
William Albert Bird is charged, on warrant issued by the Wellington Bench, with deserting his wife, at Wellington, in December last. Description: English, a carpenter, twenty-five years of age, sft. 2in. high, fair hair, clean-shaved
except fair moustache, scar over one of eyes and on one of legs. He left Wellington for Blenheim in company with a girl named Terry, whom it is believed he has married. His wife is quite destitute.
Samuel Richardson is charged, on warrant issued by the Auckland Bench, with deserting his illegitimate child by Anne Patterson, at Auckland, since about the 25th ultimo. Description : A native of Gape Town, a blacksmith, twentyfive years of age, sft. Bin. high, dark complexion, blue eyes, dark-brown hair moustache and side whiskers ; generally wears dark clothes and hard black-felt hat. His father resides at Papakura, near Auckland. He left Auckland on the 25th ultimo by the steamer “ Mararoa ” for Sydney.
William Wedgwood is charged, on warrant issued by the Invercargill Bench, with disobeying an order, since the 31st December last, to pay 7s. 6d. per week towards the support of his wife. Description : English, a farm-labourer, thirty-seven years of age, about sft. 7in. high, medium build, fair complexion, fair hair, clean-shaved except fair moustache ; generally wears light-tweed suit and light soft felt hat. He left the Southland District about the 31st December last, accompanied by his son Alfred, aged fifteen years, and his daughter Laura, aged eleven years.
Richard Quinn is charged, on warrant issued by the Wanganui Bench, with disobeying an order to contribute towards the support of his wife. Description : Irish, a rail-way-labourer, forty-two years of age, about sft. sin. high, medium build, red hair beard whiskers and moustache. He was discharged from the railway-works near Woodville about the middle of December last. He is now £7B in arrears.
Thomas Chandler is charged, on warrant issued by the Wellington Bench, with deserting his wife and three children, at Wellington, since the 31st ultimo. Description: English, an expressman, thirty-two years of age, sft. llin. high, medium build, round shoulders, fair complexion, blue eyes, fair hair, clean-shaved except small fair moustache; when last seen wore old dark-tweed coat, rather loose, dark-tweed trousers, blue-check shirt, and black slouched hat. His wife and children are destitute.

John Farror, charged on warrant of commitment to gaol in default of paying a fine of £1 Bs. and costs for allowing his cattle to wander, has been arrested by Constable Patrick McGill, Phillipstown Police. Fine and costs paid.
