Deserting Wives and Families, &c.

The warrant for the arrest of Charles Henry Frederick Wolff, charged with failing to support his illegitimate child by Agnes Taylor, has been cancelled by the Resident Magistrate, Westport, who has made an order against the offender for the payment of £1 per week towards the support of his child.
Loughlan McKinnon is charged, on warrant issued by the Invercargill Bench, with deserting his illegitimate child by Cathrine Kavanagh, at Wyndham, on the 7th September
last. Description: A native of Victoria, Scotch parents, a groom and coachman, twenty-four years of age, sft. 6in. high, stout build, light-brown hair and moustache, otherwise shaved, very dark complexion, round face, thick lips, blue eyes, good teeth ; usually wears brown-tweed suit. Supposed gone to Timaru.
William Hercus is charged, on warrant issued by the Invercargill Bench, with disobeying an order to pay 7s. 6d. per week towards the support of his illegitimate child by Johanna Max, on the 22nd June, 1886, at Invercargill. Description : Scotch, a labourer, twenty-five years of age, sft. 9in. high, 11 stone 41b. weight, medium build, fair sandy complexion, light-yellow hair, sandy moustache, grey eyes, long nose, large scar on right arm and back of right hand ; usually wears grey-tweed suit. Left Invercargill for Dunedin per 4.15 p.m. train on the 11th ultimo.

Joseph Reilly, charged on warrant of commitment to Auckland Gaol for one month’s labour, has been arrested by Constable John Ryan, Te Awamutu Police, and remanded to Auckland.
