Robert Whitelaw is charged, on warrant issued by the Balclutha Bench, with the larceny as a bailee of the sum of £l3 15s. of the moneys of Donald McDonald, at Balclutha, on the 15th ultimo. Description : Scotch, twenty-three years of age, sft. sin. high, stout build, brown hair, very little 'or no hair on face ; supposed, gone to Dunedin.

Frederick Clarke is charged, on warrant issued by the Christchurch Bench, with the larceny as a bailee, at Fendaltown, near Christchurch, on the 14th October last, of a double-barrelled pinfire breech-loading gun, makers Hollis and Sheath, London, a very small hole in the left barrel about 6in. from the breech, three scratches on left side of stock; the property of Schjott Stoddard; value£l2. Sin. high, dark sallow complexion ; wore dark-tweed suit and hard brown hat, had a heavy gold watch-guard with nugget attached. Second, twenty-six or twenty-seven years of age, sft. Sin. high, dark sallow complexion, chin shaved, heavy upper lip, prominent upper teeth; wore dark-tweed suit, had a gold watch-guard with greenstone pendant attached. Third, called “ Charlie,” thirty years of age, sft. 3in. high, sallow com plexion, chin shaved ; wore a light-tweed suit. Identifiable"

William Benjamin Marten, Avenal, near Invercargill, three twill-calico sheets, 6ft. by Bft., a plain calico sheet, 6ft. by Bft., all machine-hemmed, and a twill-calico nightshirt, marked “ W. B. Marten” with ink on breast; value £1 10s. Identifiable.

Stolen between the Ist October last and the 19th ultimo, from a goods-case between London and Dunedin, twelve men’s soft black-felt hats, sizes from 6-1 to 6f ; the property of George Halley ; value £1 16s.
